Score Curve Approximations

When I took it in Feb 07 the Reading was -1 = 36. That would be sick though if -1 on math is a 36!

Same here, one of my friends who was trying to get a decent score (~27) felt like she did horrible on the science section.

I agree Jchang. When my proctor said 5 min i was incredibly surprised. I feel bad for kids who are just trying to get ok scores, that science section took a lot of incredibly quick thinking.

I also agree with that statement ^ I can’t imagine what students shooting for average scores were thinking during the section section. I was almost lost, so I’m sure they had to be. I actually heard a few people at my test center say that they guessed on just about every science question.

And to the OP, assuming that we took the same test, I don’t think there’s any way a -1 will be a 36 on the math. Math was abnormally easy, so I’d expect:
-1 35
-2 34
-3 33
-4/5 32

Also, I think science will be more lenient than what you listed.

This was my first time taking the ACT. Will how many problems we missed be on our score report?

IMO a reasonable science curve would be

-0 = 36
-1 = 35
-2 = 34
-3 = 34
-4 = 33
-5 = 33
-6 = 32
-7 = 32
-8 = 31
-9 = 31
-10 = 30

^ Hopefully that’s the science curve

Doubt it’ll be that nice. I found science pretty easy actually (for me), and sure some other people did as well.

My guess is more along the lines of…
-0 = 36
-1 = 35
-2 = 34
-3 = 33
-4 = 32
-5 = 31
-6 = 30
-7 = 30
-8 = 29
-9 = 29
-10 = 28

does anybody remember the curve from last ACT? I christmas treed 8 math Qs and still got a 34…

yeah dude, I missed at least 1~2 on math and got a 36

Apparently the Math section of the Sept. ACT was a beast.

it was a beast although I tamed it

I heard the science on the Sept. ACT was way harder than the science on this ACT

Dream on!! The math curve will not be that easy! -10 being a 30? Psh.

if I could only get a 28 on science…I’d hug my mailman

i took the SAT but definitely did not do well (I’m a total math/sci person btw). I’m looking to take the ACT in December, but what is the difference between English and Reading?

English focuses on grammar (is this the right place to put the comma, who/whom, etc.) and Reading is reading comprehension (reading the passage and answering main idea, where should this paragraph go? questions)

english: ok curve
math: harsh curve
reading: ok curve
science: lenient curve

if anyone knows the curve from Sept ACT and June ACT for each section, can u post em plz?

i find reading to be the hardest… science was no problemo

is this accurate? because it almost makes me regret not taking the october test.

and also, does the ACT get progressively easier for each later test date?
