Score Predictions

What is this infamous "Jill" problem? I don't remember it... lol

I agree with you Joli...in terms of this writing question I'm pretty sure that there was an "it" at the end - BUT EVEN if there wasn't,
"We waited for a long time for the book, ____ there are few copies."
"Of that" doesnt not work --- the correct answer would be "of which"
"Which" also does not work, because which is the relative pronoun that replaces the subject, and here the subject of the verb "are" is "there"....the presence of "of" would change that to the possessive (few copies of the book)
The only feasible answer I believe is "and"

What did you guys get for the math problem about the area of the trapezoid?
Base1 = 6, Base2 = 12, the right and left slants were 4 and 5.

I put 36, but I just did the math at home and got approximately 30.
but i'm pretty sure 36 was the lowest number offered as an answer . . .

apsum41 - i believe that the height was 4, while the length of one diagonal was 5...so the area was 36.

36 is the correct answer

A=1/2h(base1+base2)

In this case
h=4
b1=12
b2=6
=36!

if they only gave you the slants, the problem would be much too long for an act math problem - like quadratics + pythagorean.

if 4 was the height and not another slant height than i spent 5 mins on a problem that should take 5 seconds. frustrating.
but I guessed the right answer, so that's pretty lucky.

so does anyone know the subscore curves for this test?
(how many you can miss in each section, to get a certain score in that section)

Some Problems-
1. The matrix problem- was it a b c d or e lol.. No clue how to do those.. guessed c.
2. the trapezoid in the 50's with one base =6 and the slants were 4, what was the other base? I guessed 16?
3. the last one was 1/pi right?
4.there was one set of parallel lines tangent to a circle and we had to find the angle of >bcd or something. 112?
Reading-
1. I put architecture but I intended on changing it to spirit, but she called time... but I'm fairly certain it's spirit.
2. can you guys go over the cicada passage? I didn't get a chance to read it because I misread the clock... like an idiot... and ended up having to skim the answers and guess... lol any chance the last three were b f b?

^
1) B (LOL i plugged these all into my freaking calculator faster than i thought i was capable of doing)

2.) it was base of 15. i used law of cosines LOL and someone tells me that i could have just used proportions -_-

3.) i forget the question?

4.) yeap!

ya B

huh? can someone clarify this problem..I remember two similar triangles with 6/4 and maybe 15/10? idk.

ya, diameter over circumference

yes 112 was the exterior angle to the triangle

it was an isoceles trapezoid and the diagonals were drawn... at the intersection they were measured to cut off at 4 and 10 each (if that makes sense). the top was 6 and we were asked to find the base.

cool. Those were the only ones I was unsure of.. Hopefully i can still get a 34

djharpz - I chose spirit.

And as far as the NS reading passage w/ the cicada(?) the answer was on paragraph 2. I barely had time to look at that passage.

Hmm...well English dealt with a lot of commas...and as you can see I'm not much of a comma person. lol. I'm hoping for a 30-32. Math stumped me on a couple....maybe 6-7 If I get a 28 on it I'll be happy. Reading wasn't so bad. The passages were really interesting and I ended up getting really caught up in the stories that I only had 5 mins left by the time I got to the last passage (not fun). Science was alright...the last sections were killer. And what the heck was up with that chemistry section?? I probably only got like 2 of those right...by chance.

Overall hoping for at least a 30-31. Gonna retake in Feb either way.

what are you guys talking about...spirit or architecture? i dont remember a question on that... are you guys talking about the guy who lived in chinatown or something?

and about the matrix, i completly guessed! I got the trapezoid one right though :)!!!

what was the answer to the matrix one? i hate those sneaky bastards =/

Hoping for a E34, M35, R34 (plz!!), S32, C34

probably going to end up getting a 33, thinking too high for english and reading I've gotten 31 twice already.. >_<

Oh! now i remember the question about china...i put spirit.

and
Exhibities, I remember that one.

I put "musical movement" instead of "it." It seemed to clear up the sentence better =)
i put musical movement too lol!! "it" can never stand alone in the end of a sentence.

I didnt even answer the jill problem, i was out of time and i had marked a circle on the question to go back to it but i never got the time, so i guessed and i put B (whatever that was)...B was my choice of answer today for most guessing questions :)

Does anyone remember the one math that looked like a window and had something like 64 + 2pi or 64 + pi? which one was the answer?! i put 64 + pi but now im sure its wrong :(

The matrix was B

what was B? i actually think i put A lol was it like [1 0]
[0 -1] or something?

Does anyone know the one that involved finding the distance between two points and it had p as a variable?

Oh, i put (p^2 -/+ 4)^1/2 , prolly wrong though...i didnt have enough time towards the end so i guesstimated
