Hi,

I was wondering if it was worth it to retake my ACT:

Composite: 35

English:35
Math:35
Reading:36
Science:32

I'm interested in diving into an Engineering major and was wondering if I should retake the ACT to improve my science score. How big of a factor would my science score be to admissions into more competitive engineering programs?

It will probably be insignificant to raise the science score.
Btw, is this the ACT with writing? (if not, you should take that)

And it depends on what schools you are applying (Do they require all scores?), Do you know you can do better (if you can, why not retake?) and do you have time to retake or will it take up significant time that can be otherwise better spent?

It’s unlikely that any school would deny you for a 32 science score when your other scores are 35/36. Remember that scores aren’t everything, they are part of an overall system used to select applicants.

I did take the writing section with a score of 10.

Thank you for the questions to think about though!

I sincerely doubt a 35 would keep you for admittance at almost any school - it’s part of a package of items that are considered.

What is noting is if the schools you are interested in - give any kind of merit scholarship for perfect scores off 36. Either a 36 in a single sitting or a superscore. If the answer is yes - then it might be worth a second effort.

Getting a 32 in Science is tough, you’re in the 98th percentile.
