My S got his best score after taking the SAT for the 4th time…He now has a 2250 super score, 2230 single sitting. I have read that taking it 4 times might be frowned upon. I know Penn asks that you send all scores. My question is,if you elect to score select, will they know? Does it show on the report that you selected? A friend said they will not know, and it is an honor code… Does anyone have further insight or specific knowledge? just trying to understand all the implications
Has Penn ever rescinded an admittance, told a student to withdraw, or revoked a diploma? The answer is yes to all three. That really is all your son needs to know.
Yale has a policy similar to Penn. Here is what former Yale Dean of Undergraduate Admissions Jeff Brenzel had to say:
Personally, I’m not sure what an applicant hopes to gain by playing loose with the rules.
Four times is ok. Just send them all. Lots of kids take the ACT as a part of their yearly standardized testing, so it’s not so unusual to see a kid with four ACT scores.
I know when my son sent his SAT scores on the CB website, College board has it set up that it automatically sends all scores as required by the college… it is a huge red block and warning you cannot miss… It tells you right on the form that if you elect to undue that and omit scores, College Board will send your score report notifying them that it is only partial scores…
Please don’t risk it! Your sons SAT scores are too good to risk losing admission chances for being unwilling to comply with the rules… I have heard they use number of sats taken for statistical purposes not necessarily to exclude applicants…
Thanks for ll the advice. He will send them all.
