Suppose I am not applying to any colleges that require the SAT II. Suppose I try the SAT II and opt for score choice when I do it. Which colleges are such that I would have the option to never send out the SAT II scores if I'm not happy with how I fare? How would the colleges find out that I ever took the SAT II in the event that I decide I don't want the scores to be known?

[Guidance / 2013/2014 List of Schools Requiring/Recommending SAT Subject Tests](http://www.rtsd.org/Page/1574)

Check it out for the SAT2 requirement/recommendation. If they do not require, they don’t care if you have taken them. But if you submit the score, it may still be useful in some case.

Suppose I apply to Stanford. It says “recommended” in that document. So suppose I take the SAT II but I’m not happy with any of the scores. Does that mean I would not have to send of them to Stanford?

I guess what I’m asking, in part is: are the college’s admissions policies with regards to score choice for the SAT I identical to that of the SAT II or do they all accept score choice for the SAT II?

No. Stanford in particular has a different policy for SAT2. You can choose any or none SAT2 scores for reporting.

Thanks billcsho. When you say “you can choose any or none SAT2 scores for reporting” do you mean that just for Stanford, for any other school that says SAT2 is recommended, or any school in general.

I guess I’m just wondering: suppose I don’t apply to any schools in which the SAT2 is required. Could I experiment with the SAT2 and decide after I see my scores whether I want to ultimately send any of them out, all of them out, or none of them out? Or would I ever be forced to send them all? I’m just wondering whether it may be worth it to invest in studying for an (or several) SAT2s.

Thank you for all of your clarification.
