Scored a 1650 on college board's Practice SAT...what should I do?

Hey guys, I took my very first Practice SAT and got a 1650 on it.....

Here's the score breakdown:
Math-600
Writing-590
Reading-460(blehhhhh)

I got so bored during the reading/writing that i just guessed on some of them. Anyway, should i sign up for a class? Or should i continue studying with Gruber's complete SAT book? Do you think that studying 20 minutes a day during the weekdays(AP Classes are going to take up ALOT more of my time) and an hour each on weekends, will help me get that score to a 2000+? Im aiming for UCI, UCD, or UCSB since my gpa is a little too low for UCLA, UCB, and UCSD. Thanks for any help!!!!!

Read a lot, pay attention in class, and take practice tests for an hour twice a week. This is what I do, and I use Kaplan’s flash cards when I have a spare moment or two. I went from a 182 on the PSAT with no prep at all to a 2000-2100 on practice tests this way. Though on the PSAT, I didn’t answer any of the grid-ins, I forgot about them, so that might be one reason it was so low… So maybe my improvement’s not that massive, but you see what I mean.

I’m at about:
740 Writing
700 Critical Reading
620 Math

By the way, you’re probably not taking the CR part right… Don’t read the story first, don’t read it ubtil you must! When you see a question asking about a certain line of a story, go to it and answer the question. This works for all of the questions like this, leaving you with only questions about the author’s general tone, style, and purpose. Ohh, and the questions that compare passage 1 and passage 2. Just thought I’d help you with that.

Thanks EliKresses…I REALLY need to get my score up to a 2000.

Hey By the way, do you think you could link me to where you got those Kaplan flashcards? Thanks!!!

I mean they’re physical flashcards, but hmm, on the box it says “Kaplan SAT In a Box” 3rd edition by the way. It has 200 for each section of the SAT, pretty useful. If you have an ipod touch or iphone, there are some decent free SAT prep apps too.

Here’s a link to a free Kaplan SAT quiz bank too, just sign up: <a href=“404 File not Found | Kaplan Test Prep”>http://www.kaptest.com/College/Home/quizbank.html</a></p>
