33-35 doesn’t really make a difference IMO. Even a 36 wouldn’t except for the fact that perfection is perfection and having a 36 does help give a tiny little boost to the school’s rankings

Hm, my college counselor did already send an email to my admissions counselor explaining the mistake, so hopefully that won’t impact it too much.

SAT 2310, History 800, Lit 790, GPA is a 3.9 UW, and one really good rec, but my ECs are pretty bad and I feel like my essays could have been so much better.

Are we on CC considered to be the top applicants? You guys don’t think there are hidden geniuses out there who refuse to share stats on any internet forums and take all the ea spaces in secret? (sudden panic)

Does it help us if we didn’t apply ED somewhere else? (ray of hope… UChicago is my absolute first choice!)

They have no way of knowing for sure where else you applied
Your scores look good. I guess it’s up to the rest of your resume
Honestly I’m banking on the fact that I’m being recruited for swimming and went on a recruiting trip and committed to swim there if i got in. Without swimming, i doubt i have any chance. Even with idk

So jealous! Wish I had a good EC/commitment. First two years I did Odyssey of the Mind, but I stopped because I didn’t have enough time once I started working. Plus I’m on a magazine & NHS, but that’s it. How many nonprofits have you guys started? Anyone cured cancer yet?

@brm LOL i don’t know why but I laughed at the cancer bit. Colleges expect us to be superhuman nowadays

Because there are those kids that ARE superhuman. Hidden somewhere in the woods there’s a factory where they make the kids who get into Ivies out of kryptonite and the limbs of demigods. (No offense to anyone here, it’s just a joke cause I’m stressed.)

Anyone want to stress over their essays? I was told after the fact that mine took the prompt too literally (so weird for me but whatever)…

does anyone here take the IB diploma btw?

3.99 UW GPA, 2340 SAT (1540 CR+M), 35 ACT.
740 Chemistry, 780 Literature, 800 Math II.
Non-numerical stuff all sucks.

@Jasoncheung I take the IB… predicted 42/45 (3 for core), 3 7s at HL
2380 SAT superscore (1580 CR+M)
SAT IIs: 760 Mol Bio, 800 Lit, 800 Maths II
ECs middling to (one) sort-of impressive
Essays… not sure :/

I couldn’t sleep…

I rue the moment I looked at this thread…

Be confident. Not everything is test scores

2220 SAT (800 CR, 730 W, 690 M, 11 essay), 780 SAT II Lit, 770 SAT II WH, 3.6x UW GPA

My GPA sigh I’m counting on my ECs, essays and recs, to be honest

3.97 GPA
2270 (790 M, 710 CR, 770 W, 12 essay)
35 ACT
800 Math Level 2
760 Physics

I have a bunch of ECs and my recs were alright, but the essays I wrote felt spectacular. Honestly, I think good essays are at the heart of what admits people to Chicago.

IB Diploma as well here! :D

Just to make everyone feel better:

My essays are crap

There.

@bulet May I ask you what your times are? I, too, am a swimmer. Albeit I’m not particularly fast (53.9 100 fly, 22.5 50 free, 49.7 100 free, can swim every event though…that’s all I got going)

@Skyrior which ESF school are you in? D: KGVer here (I’m assuming you go to an ESF school cause you’re doing IB)
