scores during the interview

Why do they ask for all your test scores during the interview? My interviewer was impressed with my resume but when she heard my scores her attitude quickly changed and she ended the interview. do they really "rank" the top 10 applicants in a region based on this as well?

They rank the applicants in a region - that’s news to me.

Anyways, my interviewer may be wrong, but he said they had to record them so that the adcoms knew that the interviewer was interviewing the right person (I was skeptical of that specific reasoning, but I kept my mouth shut about it haha).

mine asked for the scores!

Mine says they ask in order to cross reference with the actual application.

They don’t rank you based on region, at least Harvard doesn’t. They look at applicants holistically, which means there’s no limit on a school or a region (although this may be disputed). So they won’t get you and Sally and compare both of you because you go to the same school. But they will kind of do that on a level in the region, but not to the extent where it’s like “okay, top ten applicants in this region are blah, blah blah… etc.”

Every school is different but I’m pretty sure I read no here that Harvard tells the interviewer to ask for GPA/scores. My D’s GPA is low, but her interviewer has been out of school awhile and must not be following the trends because she said she was very impressed with it (though her GPA is by FAR the worst part of her application). The interviewer can’t rank you. Over 100 kids apply from our Harvard Club, and they’re interviewed by a ton of people. And Harvard has your stats, so THEY can rank you if they want.

Harvard asks the interviewers to find out applicants’ senior year courses, scores, and gpa. Presumably, Harvard asks that in order to make sure that interviewers are using that info as part of the assessment that Harvard requires interviewers to do about applicants intellectual achievements.

yea surprisingly my interviewer didnt ask for my GPA which I wish he did because it’s much better than my scores… which aren’t horrible but compared to people in my region they are definitely low.

does it also matter who in the alumni club interviews you? I think the President of the club interviewed me so i don’t know if he has more impact?

that’s interesting because my interviewer asked for my scores and not my GPA which i must admit i was pretty thankful for
