SAT II scores 740 (MAth IIC); 710 (Physics); 790 (Writing)
I can push up the math IIC and Physics to around 780
should i retest the IIs or the SAt I in jan
Thanks for the help

In my opinion, the SAT I is more important than the SAT IIs. I think having a 1500+ SAT I is a distinct advantage in the admissions process, and your SAT II scores are high enough that making them 780, 780, and 790 wouldn't make all that much difference.

Which looks better? 1480/780/780/790 or 1530/740/710/790? I'll take the latter for two reasons. One, it looks a lot like my set of scores (1530/800/710/680) and I got in ED, and two, it shows a higher level of innate intellect rather than the ability and willingness to study for subject tests.

That said, your scores are top-notch either way, so any improvement is merely icing on an already formidable cake.

SAT I doesn't measure "innate intellect."
It tests for a very specific skill set which has to be learned, even as there is a lot of reasoning involved. I'd argue that SAT I is looked at more carefully only because they actually compile applicants' scores, plus schools compare averages. There's a marketing component too, I'd guess (the college board is evil!!!)
Personally, I always thought SAT IIs to be a better measure of a student's ability and willingness to learn cuz you really have to know your stuff on those fact-based tests.

Except for the writing test. That's just ********.

according to them, im a horrible writer (well i got an 800 but only an 8/12 on the essay), yet my admission director sent me a letter thanking me for excellent essays...hmm....

Dostoyvsky, regardless of the subscore, an 800 writing proves your writing proficiency, and expertise, for that matter.

I registered for a SAT I retake, i can change it to a two later if required. The whole thing is so damn stressfull and confusing

ahhhh!!! i have to wait another week till they find me a test centre. I might change my mind and want to write the IIs by then lol
