Will scores lower than 750 for SAT II's decrease your chances of getting into ivies or similarly prestigious schools?
I have 2 800's for 2 subjects and a 740 for chem, so I'm wondering if that lone 740 would affect my application

it might hurt a little, but i really doubt it. the two 800's are solid, obviously, so u should be good. also depends on ur SAT1

same q- i have two scores right at 740 and a 720, is it worth retaking those 740s at all?

Admissions people recognize that scores in the 700's represent very little variation in the number of questions you actually answered incorrectly. One score below 800, eclecticist, is not going to hurt you, esp. if your SAT I is high, and I wouldn't worry if I were you, vin09, either. You're better off spending your time almost any other way--other tests, admission essay, schoolwork, sleep-- than studying for and retaking those tests.

Yeah I didnt do great on my tests 700 and 650 and I am definitely content, I will prob take the 650 again in November, I def not going to harvard so I dont care.

So alternamom, 770 on Math SAT II will be viewed close to equal with a 700? That's not true. With that said, 740 and 720 on science SAT II's are solid scores and certainly not worth the retake.

i don't know where i heard this but i've heard that adcoms use the SAT2's to try to compare two students that had similar SATI's scores. ie if both students had a 2100 and A-/A- in say history, if won had a 750 and the other had a 700, the 750 student would be looked at more favorably. other than that, it doesnt count as much.

yeah, i'm wondering the same thing afterbeing bummed out by my two 690s, although i'm happy with my one 800. How important are the SATII's really.
Specifically for me, I want to get into an accelerated medical program. does that man my bio score (690 :( ) will count a lot as to wether or not i get into that program?

hey don't sweat two 800s and a lower score. only princeton and harvard require 3 subject tests now. everyone else is at 2 or has switched to 2 because of the writing section and a year to see average scores

Don't bother retaking. a lone 740 won't hurt you. congratulations on your duo of 800s

I feel as if I've been writing too many of these posts lately, and I realize that anecdotes aren't evidence, but if it makes anyone feel better, these were my scores:

800 French
750 Literature
710 Chemistry
710 Biology-M
700 Math II
700 Spanish

And I'm going to Dartmouth.

I suppose you could argue that I might have been accepted to Princeton had my scores been higher, but I really doubt it came down to that. I'd find something more important to worry about, if I were you.

When I read, A for Admission book, 700 was number that was mentioned. That seems to be the case with the above poster. Michelle Hernandez used to work for Darmouth.

these really aren't that important guys.... i spent a lot of time worrying about them and they didnt help that much in the long run. find my rd results if u want.
