Scores or Percentiles?

I got a 98% (2320) on the Dec SSAT as a current 10th grader, while my friend, who's in 11th grade, scored something like 2250 and still got 96%.

Is this because fewer 11th graders take the SSAT? Since we are international, I kind of assume that AOs put us in the same pool. Do they only look at percentiles? (I don't think 96% or 98% makes a difference, but I'm just curious...)

Also,
do they know how many questions you omitted/got wrong?
do they know you've taken it in Nov (and your scores) if only the Dec scores were submitted?

Thanks!!!

Percentiles are based on your age and gender. Apparently, 10th graders do better than 11th graders on the test which probably has to do with the pool of students. Unless you and your friend are applying for the same grade and are the same gender, you won’t be competing against eachother. (Actually, 9th graders do better than 11th graders on this test!! )

Schools will have the information available regarding #wrong, etc; but since your score is so high, I doubt they’ll look at it. I mean, it wouldn’t really tell them anything new. I imagine it’s there so that if they want to take a closer look if a score is borderline, they can. They know that 2 wrong can sink a scaled score by 80 points.

They will not see any actual scores unless you have them sent. On your Dec score report, there will be something that lets them know that you have indeed taken the test before during this year, but it won’t say which sitting or what the scores were.

You’re good! This is one part of you app that you can stop worrying about. Good luck!

(I’m starting to really hate the anxiety that this test creates.)

^^Better get used to it, neato. There will be a lot on the way - SAT, SAT II’s, PSAT and possible AP’s…

Thanks!!! I asked because my Nov scores were significantly lower… (well I was so nervous about the test…) And the ssat website isn’t helpful at all. They don’t even tell me if there are additional fees for score reports! (and whether they offer score choice, etc)

Ten of my Asian friends got 95%+. I’m starting to wonder what kinds of people usually take the SSAT…(since most of them are native speakers)
no offence lol

If you add or cancel scores online there’s no fee. If you do it by mail (which I can’t imagine you’d want to do from abroad) there’s a $25 fee for up to 10 schools.

Wow they must have updated that recently. It wasn’t there when I checked in Sept.

Thanks everyone!
