Scores under 30--take heart

Congrats to everyone who had the guts to study for and complete the Sept ACT.
Lots of students on this site received super fantastic scores. Even if you scored a 30, you're in the 96th percentile...the top 4% of test takers!

For those readers who worry about "low" scores...say under 30 and above 20. Take heart.
Think about it this way. For college bound students, a 25 composite score places you
at the 80th percentile.....only 20 percent of test takers did better. Not too shabby.
If you scored a 20, roughly half did better, half did worse. If you want to improve, there are lots of great recommendations on this site, and among the best is to repeat practice with timed tests. Evaluate your actual test results to see where you have the best chance to post large gains and study those areas and take the timed practice tests.

Keep in mind that these ACT scores are an indication of ability. Of course it's great to have super scores but if you don't, it's not the end-all in admissions selections. Best of luck to everyone.

Unfortunately for me, a 30 looks much better than a 29.
Just one point away…
But I appreciate the encouragement.

what a kind, considerate post!!!

Thanks so much for posting this. Its nice to know that some people on here think lower scores are perfectly fine. Though I do hope to take it one last time to bring it up! I still don’t understand how I dropped…

Thank you for your post!!

@Ambriesce You’re in my exact situation.
