Scores.. yes/no?

I took the SAT II's last weekend and went ahead and put Yale as a recipient of my scores (meaning that they will recieve both my SAT II scores and my SAT I scores (700;690;750), of course). However, I'm afraid that my SAT II scores weren't very good. My ACT score was decent (33 composite), so would it hurt me if my SAT scores were only mediocore? And if I didn't do very well on my AP exams (with some 3's).. should I turn in these scores?

Secondly, if anyone has time, I'd like some advice as to whether or not I should spend the $75 to apply or just keep my money .. I'm kind of nervous about applying because even though I am a very bright student for my area (SW Virginia), I don't exactly match up on a national scale. I'll try to be brief in my descriptions.

SAT I: 700; 690; 750
SAT II: unknown at the moment

ACT Comp: 33
English: 36
Math: 29
Science: 35
Reading:34

Essays: unsure
Recommendations: very optimistic

My main question pertains to the scores, so don't feel the need to answer the second part.

Another question: My teacher requested that I type up an activities/awards list for HER to include with her recommendation. Would Yale frown upon this?

I'm not sure if Yale would :( frown :( upon that or not, but I was requested to do that by all the teachers who are writing my recs so I just went ahead and gave them the list, but then told them not to include it cuz I'm having the counselor mail it with the rest of my stuff. I think it would be okay if all your activities DON'T fit on the common app. Then again, most of us applying to the Ivies have that issue...

Im in the same boat (high ACT...mediocre SATs) and after much internal debate i decided to go ahead with only the ACT score. I figure if they wanted more they would ask so I might as well send them the best that I can offer. Good luck on everything and maybe we'll run into each other on campus next year.

Yale, like most schools, looks at all your scores, but only considers for admission your HIGHEST scores, whether they're on the SATs or the ACT. So for you, they'd consider your ACT and not your SAT.

Doesn't Yale want the ACT w/ writing?

Yes, Yale requires the ACT w/writing.

Unfortunately, I don't think they will accept the ACT score, if you have not taken it with writing.

But your EC's are great, and the SAT scores aren't really that bad, over 2100.

I did take it with writing? 33 is my composite and I had a 34 for the writing

Does Yale need an official report of AP scores?

Yale requires an official score report, meaning that you have to pay for it if you didn't put Yale as a recipient when you took it. I had to argue with my guidance counselors because they said that them putting it on my transcript would be sufficient, and I told them that Yale said it would not. Eventually they believed me, I think. Reguardless.. I had to pay to have mine sent.

I say send them anyways... I'm running the same risk as you are so don't feel alone. If Yale wants the SAT IIs, just give it to them. If nothing else, at least they know you put the effort into it.
