Hey, I've been reading a lot of these posts the past day, because a friend of mine told me he got his acceptance letter on Saturday, leading me to believe that I might get mine today.

I know Zelda applied for screenwiritng, but I haven't seen much more about film on here.

When nothing came in the mail today from USC, I got very upset and decided to call them to see if they had received anything, and to see if they knew if my letter was going out soon. After waiting for like ten minutes, a woman on the phone told me my application was completed, but they were waiting to notify me and/or make their decision until they heard from the film school. I had her connect me to screenwriting, where the guy told me that notifications probably won't go out for 4-10 weeks, but more on the 10 week side. I didn't even give the guy my name and this was the answer.

Now ten weeks from now is like May 15th, which is more than two weeks past the deposit deadline for most colleges. How am I supposed to make a decision if I'm not hearing from my first choice until after I have to make a decision? Will USC notify me in general if I'm in, or are they strictly going to wait until they hear from film? I'm very confused and nervous, so any advice/comments are greatly appreciated.

By the way, congratulations to all who are accepted, I am very very jealous. Good work!

ZBR, did they seem annoyed that you called? Or were they okay with it? I sort of want to call (and don't) but I don't want some clerk to get tiffed off and put my app at the bottom of some pile...

They were actual both really pleasant. The general admissions officer was very nice, and the guy i talked to in film seemed like he was a student doing work-study, and he was nice. Although i have had bad experiences with them on the phone and rude people, i wouldnt worry, youre better just calling and seeing what happens.

They never notified me at all last year! I applied and never heard anything so I called and asked when I'd find out and they said AFTER I was admitted to USC... I got in to USC and still hadn't heard (by May 1st) and so I decided not to go to USC because its so expensive and I didn't want to commit to the university if I was going to have another random major I didn't want... Anyways... I dunno but they never said anything to me...

ZBR- did the screenwriting guy mean 4-10 weeks after we turned in our apps? (which would be april-ish) or did he definitely mean 4-10 MORE weeks? I also applied for screenwriting and haven't heard anything except the scholarship rejection...kind of frustrating b/c i'd like to know if i'm into the film school before i enroll at usc.
