I am forteen and looking for a summer screenwriting camp in the northeast. The camp can not cost more that 4,000 dollars or be longer than two weeks. Does anyone know of any camps? Thanks!

PS: One camp I am looking at is SOCAPA.

I too am intrested, but would like a camp in the Southeast.

I can only find about 2 places and one is a month long. There not too many outside of L.A.

I live no where near LA and NYC is far too.

Same here. I am in NY State but far from NYC.

They need to expand these workshops. Not everyone lives by NYC or LA.

I know. I wish they would. I wish the film industry would also expand out of LA.

The film industry actually does expand into places like Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, The Carolina’s, Louisiana, Texas, Miami/Orlando, etc. I have two talent agents in the Southeast, but not much for screenwriters.

What do you do in the industry?

I am a film actor/ high school student.

Oh vey nice. I am just entering High School this year.

I’ll be a sophomore this fall. But I am going to apply to this early college.

Oh, what college?

Bard College at Simon’s Rock. I would skip my last two years of high school and graduate college at 20. I would stay at Simon’s Rock for two years and then transfer. I hope to get an MFA in TV/Film writing after this.

Wow, that sounds like a great plan. I may look into Bard College. I looked a little bit awhile back. It looks like a nice college.

Bard College is a different college actually. But would be better for what you want to do. If you want the early college route-go to Simon’s Rock. But most parents don’t want their kids to leave home early, including mine. I still have lots of convincing to do.

Ok thanks. Good luck to you with convincing your parents. I am trying to convice mine to move to a larger school district. Its not going so well. I just can’t stand the area I live in. There is nothing to do in town or at school.

Well, I bet your parents want to move. But we are in a recession and I know TONS of people who can’t sell their house. NO ONE CAN SELL THEIR HOUSE!!! Also, if they do your parents will be loosing a lot of money on their house. Some people have been losing at least 100k on their house, so they can move. My parents would love to move too, but they are not willing to loose a lot of money on our house. We aren’t that desperate and can’t take that much lost. We would have a tough time selling it anyways and I know some people whose house has been on sale for two years. Also, it’s different for us since I have an older brother who will be a junior this fall. My mom moved to Florida right before her senior year and she doesn’t want her kids to have the same pain.
