if you want to do screenwriting, is your major film & television, or is it dramatic writing?

I think dramatic writing refers to writing for theatre. I would say film and television. You should call the admissions office and ask the people there. I was initially going to apply to NYU for film (I want to be an editor) but I am applying to Gallatin because I like it as a school a lot more than Tisch. Good Luck!!

CL

You should apply to Gallatin. At Gallatin you can take virtually any course at any NYU school. And plus, it's the easiest school to transfer OUT. Why? obviously, because you can complete whatever school/major/program's pre-requisite/requierement. It's also easy to transfer to Stern from Gallatin than from CAS.

Are you speaking to me or to pinkearmufs?

sorry, to all of you...if you have a number of majors in your mind, then apply to Gallatin. I love that school too, but I worried that i wouldn't get in so I applied to the School of social Work. There is a tremendous increase in the school's applicant pool this year because of Olsen Twins who go to Gallatin

This is true. That is why I am still obsessed with the school. If could I would major in film, linguistics, political science, and Russian lit (weird mix, huh?.) Don't they only accept 25 students each year into the school of social work?

and how many students apply to that school? lol...not even 100
by the way, I hope I can get in...I have a good list of ECs...all related to that field. it's truly amazing even to my eyes

pinkearmuffs, Dramatic Writing at Tisch is what you should apply to if you're interested in screenwriting. All DW students study both playwriting and film & tv writing. Eventually you will decide on which you want to concentrate. Gallatin would only be a consideration for you if you'd like to include one or more additional areas of study. Just keep in mind that only majors in Tisch can take the vast majority of Tisch courses offered. Non-Tisch students are only eligible for the open arts curriculum and would not be taking classes with Tisch majors.

thanks eveyone ;] dramatic writing it is.
