Some of my absolute favorite schools are known to be particularly rigorous for pre med (e.g. Cornell, WUSTL, etc. etc.) Some of my peers told me to look more into good schools but where I could stand out more. I know I will not be one of the big fishes at these schools, but they are where I want to go. This thread isn't really anything more than celebrating my epiphany. Huzzah! :) lol It has been lurking in the back of my brain to focus more on "easier" schools. I use that term lightly because pre med anywhere will be extremely difficult. I was worried because I would not have had AP Chem or Physics. If I have the determination, I should be able to succeed at any of these schools. I give this advice to anybody stuck with that dilemma as well. I hope I get accepted to my schools and best of luck to everybody!!!!!!!!

Common sense tells us that students do best where they’re happy. For many people, that may be Cornell or other “hard” schools.

Apply where you want to attend, but make sure that at least one of those schools will also want YOU. That may not be the case if your list is all reaches.

In terms of succeeding once you get there, don’t worry. You’ll survive.

This touches on a very “touchy” subject. Grades. Some kids are superficial and seek out the easiest schools for them or the easiest professor or courses. Some kids relish a hard challenge and would rather have a “hard B or hard C” than an easy “A”. The bottom line is whether your choice makes you happy.

Some schools are really tough but have laid back atmosphere’s to help you “survive” and others are notorious over caffeinated stress factories made up of hyper competitive people who make everyone crazy.

Be warned.

I think you have the causation backwards. Some kids realize the academic system is superficial and thus act accordingly.

Haha, my dream school’s UPENN, but if I don’t get in, always have Miami!!!
