ok to one of the first replies posted on here....what is with some of you ppl saying "disadvantaged students need more money to attend summer in the AIM program, and UF is only giving it to those who need it"....i think some of u guys are confusing low SATs with growing up in a bad place.....just because u have low SATs doesnt mean ur disadvtanged financially....and jus because some of us are ppl who have high SATs who arent in AIM, doesnt mean we dont need the money as well....bottom line is....these "disadvantaged" students in AIM were already done a favor by being admitted to UF with crap SATs.....its bad enough they got spots over other qualified ppl.....but then to waive their housing for summer as well?? and then some of u ppl respond "oh well they are required to start in summer if they are in AIM though"...BIG EFFING DEAL! hell, im starting in summer at my own choice...like starting in summer is punishment...are u kidding? there is nothing wrong with summer....i think it is enough they are beign accepted to such a high level university over other qualified ppl......so waiving fees for housing is stupid....im all for fee waivers for SAT and stuff....and little amounts like that....but when its amount reaching almost a thousand dollars that other students JUST like the ppl in AIM are having to pay and they dont, then its kinda wrong....i mean does that mean we should all get crap SAT scores? not only is their housing being waived in summer....they also get first pick in classes.....its almost like....UF needs them....when UF doesnt....instead of wasting their damn time trying to recruit these ppl and spending their own effing money u would think they would recruit ppl who actually deserve it.....and yea some ppl in AIm have high GPA's.....which may also correlate to crap classes taken....then again...this is UF and everything has to be perfect....give me a break this is so unfair....just because i have good SATs doesnt mean im ANY richer than these ppl in AIM.....UF is lame sometimes i swear.....its great to be a florida gator.....sometimes....sigh....so for u ppl saying "just accept it".....i dont have to accept a damn thing lol....im reporting this.......................................u all dont think i have to give my name on the phone when reporting this do u? lol

Potential no is confusinf low SATS and finanacial need... they have both. And you assume a lot. Your real presumptuous thinking you know their classes (dunno what makes you think they all take crap classes as if you personally know the majority of the kids in the program). People who need finanacial assistance are going to get it and UF decides upon who needs that whether you agree or not, period. And if you know anything about UF they recruit many people many people that you call "deserving". and seriously you need to chill out with at the "effing" and your anger. You don't like what UF is doing then don't go or complain somewhere where you can get something done and don't come into a forum and just start spreading hate.

im not spreading anything...its already here....and i never said all of them have crap classes....i said that may be a possibility....some of my friends who are in AIM took AP but i still dont feel they deserve free housing over me......why cant they get a free tutor on test taking who is with them 24/7 since they need SO much help....what does free housing have to do with bad SATs....a free tutor seems more necessary to me, but u dont see UF offering THAT do u?.......and im in college....i can say "effing" all i want....ppl who try to control how u talk are no good...i assumed i had rights to disagree

No one's controlling you man but your having a temper tantram like a child. Oh wow, how great I get a free tutor... come on, get serious. This is college a free tutor is nothing special. Free housing encourages them to join the program. And as i said before UF decides what they give out. They don't deserve free housing over you.... what makes you so special (please don't reply with what makes them so special... just went over that).

you're right....this is college.....they need to figure out a way to pay for housing just like everyone else....cough responsibility?? cough....w/e....and heck, if they dont want the tutor that sucks for them....they technically didnt have to be given that either while we're at it lol

But UF isn't thinking the way you. They give what they feel will make them join the program. what do you find more attractive, a free tutor or free housing.

yea i see your point....im just kinda ticked still lol...oh well

So, if I were black and came from a disadvantaged family, the world would be mine.

This whole "if I were black I would get into every single Ivy league school without even having to apply" idea is blown out of proportion and seems very childish, but for some reason it's prevalent here.

being black doesnt mean u can get into any Ivy...not even if ur smart

Pie, for one, did you get into an ivy? Because I did. Two, are you black, and if so, did you apply to an ivy?

They get a huge advantage. It's not guaranteed, but they definitely do have an advantage over the same exact applicant (only white).

it also hurts asians

maybe they dont want asians in their schools cuz they are taking over, the 21st century belongs to asia.

i like chicken
