screwed from yale much??

do you think its necessary to take AP Calculus, or somehow show your competence in the subject, to be in the range for ivy's? What about if your major is towards the humanities, like history or politics?

FLVS has a Precalculus course for $750 :D

http://www.flvs.net/students_parents/VSACourseDetail.php?CourseID=87

http://www.flvs.net/students_parents/tuition_and_payment_info.php

i dont know my major yet. it may be business or possibly pre med

ah, well it was a general question directed to all members. :) But I would assume that Calculus would be necessary for a business or science oriented major at a top college. No?

yes. but A-san i think me not taking AP cal junoir well make yale look down on me

u barely need ne geometry for pre calc. i though geometry was stupid b/c my teacher kept stressing about its importance and when i went to alg 2, all they did was basic stuff. i like azsxdc's plan lol my friend did that but he did accelerated math so he did pre calc and calc ab smushed together.

Yeah, Geometry is pretty much set aside from other math classes. That's why I suggested you to take Geometry and Algebra 2 in the same year.

i think i may take geometry this summer. then algebra 2 next year. then pre cal during the summer. then jr year take ap cal AB

Ok, if I'm taking AP Calc AB next year, which will be in my junior year. What would I take after Calc for my senior year. AP Calc BC? I don't want to have to do calc two years in a row lol. Then again I don't want to take off a year from any math.

arent you guys forgetting trig? or do you not need that? beacuse at my school it goes :
alg1 -8th
geo-9th
alg 2 -10
trig-11
precal-12

(this is normal math)

A kid i know missed the opprotunity to take algrebra 1 in eighth grade. He caught by finding a teacher that was willing to help do independent study during ninth grade. He caught up and took calculus senior year.

Precalculus has trig in it. It's really not that hard to get to Calculus by 12th grade. Heck, we have a 10th grade student taking AP Calc at my school.

i'm trying to do AP CAL jr year. thats why

I really don't think colleges look at you any different whether you take AP Calculus in senior or junior year. What I wonder is how they see it if you dont take it at all (and its offered).

if your taking the hardest classes possible (for your grade) you'll be fine
