Is there anything I can do to keep me in the run for top schools, or has the shoddy junior GPA screwed me over completely? I have well above average extracurriculars and outside stuff like essays and recommendations.

Any advice would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Your weak areas seem to be science and spanish. That won’t hinder you much unless you apply with the intention of doing a lot of science/engineering/pre-med or languages in college. if you really are at the top school in ohio (let me guess: solon? Mentor? Centerville?- b/c those schools own at science olympiad, so they must be decent overall), I think you’ll be fine, as you have gotten straight As in math, english, and history.

yup, in one of those schools. has one of the number one science programs in the country, and i fail at it.

and i plan to go into international business or law as of now. never touching science :/

i mean, my internship last year was at a lab and i won a bunch of awards for my research, but i don’t think my application would give off any indication that i’m a sciency kid or anything besides that.

and the B’s in spanish… I’m fluent in two other languages, so hopefully that will counter them at least a little?

IMHO, you need to kick some @$$ Senior year, write some really good essays, and get your GC to vouch for you, and if you accomplish that, you should be fine.

I think you are a very strong candidate. If you are at a top school now that will go a long ways to helping you with college admissions. If you can pay full price in college that will help a lot too. Cast a wide net and be sure to include plenty of safety schools.

I know people that got into UCLA and Berkeley with C’s in their junior year. Other than that C, your transcript looks stellar. Don’t give up yet!

Don’t give up on top 20 schools. Maybe give up on Caltech or MIT, but there is no reason to think a school wouldn’t look past your bad science grades if you are stellar in every other area (except languages, but who really cares about grades in those?), seeing as you may not touch science again in college.

haha thanks for the encouragement.
Nah, my dream school is Columbia, followed closely by Brown.
All those typical outspoken, active campuses, y’know? Georgetown, UCLA, UCB…

Just a question- how many schools did y’all apply to? the schools for my GPA are at a very different range than the schools with students with the rest of my resume, and I don’t mind doing apps for like 20 schools, I just don’t want to waste the money :/

Lol, 1 C isn’t going to hurt you (unless you want to apply for an Engineering major, I suppose). And a B in Spanish definitely isn’t going to pose a hindrance.

I went to talk to my teacher today and figure out why I failed, and then when I was looking over the scantron, I found an error. that ONE point gave me a D instead of an F, and so I have a B for the class instead of a C. pssssshyeaaaaaah

nonetheless, i have to own senior year to make up for the downward trend. I wanted to take all the science courses offered to me since my school is so well known for science, but it’s wreaked havoc on my GPA
