Screwed-Up ApplyWeb Application is DRIVING ME CRAZY

ughhh ... has anyone else tried to apply to emory using the online ApplyWeb application???? (theres a link to it from the emory website.) i submitted part 1, whicdh was just basic info and a payment. it doesnt allow you to even look at part 2 until after you submit part 1. so i did. then i clicked on part 2, began filling it out.. when i got to the the Extracurriculars section, it was VERY SCREWED UP-- theere were like a total of 10 options for extracurriculars (ranging from like journalism to women's swimming) which did NOT include a space to write the actual name of the activity, adn the list was not NEARLY sufficient in covering all possible ECs... they didnt even have a Lacrosse option! and theres no option to fill in your own.

below there is another section which says "Family, community, family activites" (yes there is a typo!!) which makes no sense! but it does have the option to fill in your own activities rather than choosing from a list.

i emailed an admissions person about my quesiton but no response yet, and i'm worried if ic all them ill just get frusterated and start yelling. at this point i woudl rather just use the common app, but i've already submitted part 1 and the money!!! IM SO FRUSTERATED AND ANNOYED!!!!!!!!!

has anyone else experienced similar probs/know what to do??
is it possible to submit part 1 of the app and then just switch to the common app??

PLEASE HELP ME I"M GOING INSANE

The paper application lumps "extracurricular, personal, and volunteer activities" all together in one section and asks that you complete the section "even if you plan to attach a resume." So perhaps fill out the online form as best you can and then send in a resume the old-fashioned way through the U.S. mail?

DD had some similar issues applying with the common app. I agree with 1Down, do your best then attach a resume (for clarity and completeness)

my GC said i should probably just start over and send them the common app... so i emailed them and asked if that would be the best course of action (the first time i mentioned the problem they said attach a supplement... but i dunno... this is my freaking ED college app we're talking about here... i have a problem w/ turning it in less than perfect... ). so i think that's what i'm going to do (send the common app instead.. even thoguh ive already submitted part 1 and the $$).. but now i'm worried that all this confusion is going to count against me! ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

STUPID EMORY APPLICATION!! THIS IS THE LAST THING I NEED TO STRESS ABOUT RIGHT NOW!!

emory admin office siad its ok if i start over w/ the common app..

i'm too scared to ask for my $50 back though haha

i asked about that and they said they will refund me

i'm gonna use apply online with embark at regular decision. It it better or worse to choose one or not??

ok good so i'm not the only one having issues.. haha i dont want to like insult their application or anything..

Packerfan,

Be careful about the embark site. It seems to have some of the same problems as the ones described on this thread. For example, you can't even get a look at the supplmentary form and the essays until part I is officially submitted.

Son is applying RD and will go with the common app....at least there he'll know what to expect.
