Screwed Up CSS Profile

Hi, I accidentally signed up for the PROFILE 2010-2011 application instead of the PROFILE 2011-2012 application. I didn't submit my profile to any of the colleges (I didn't pay), and I realized my mistake and restarted my CSS form in the PROFILE 2011-2012 section. Is there a problem and would I be in danger of not getting the correct forms to my Early colleges?

NOTE: I have two CSS IDs now: one for 2010-11 and one for 2011-12. However I am only working on my 2011-2012 one.

Thanks

You should be fine. Just make sure you send the 2011-12 when you pay!

Asking for my son, who’s going Fall 2011.

Is filing this CSS profile required to merit scholarships or just financial need money? Is there a reason, if I know I will get no need-based money, to file the CSS instead of FAFSA? I know you have to file FAFSA even if you get a merit scholarship, but if I choose to wait and file FAFSA, will I be possibly missing out on something?

Why do these things get more complicated every year???

The CSS Profile is required if the college to which your son is applying requires it. Check the financial aid office webpage at your son’s colleges’. Not all schools require it. If they require it for need-based aid or for merit based aid, you’ll need to submit it. If the information is not clear on their webpages call them and ask.

You may be missing out on a lot if you file the FAFSA (or CSS Profile) late. Particularly where merit aid is concerned. You won’t be able to file the FAFSA until after Jan. 1st, but you’ll want to get on in within a few of that at the latest. Deadlines are critical with regard to financial aid (both need and merit based.)

I hate CSS PROFILE.
