Screwed up first semester please help

I go to a community college...Im 18, took 12 units with a 4.0 and started fall and along with student government (which i will not continue) I got a b in english and d in calculus (wiht a 1 unit student dev class I got an a in) so 9 units...i am a business major and want to transfer to usc...but do you think my chances are done because of my first semester? i will retake calc and hope to get an a or b and hopefully get a's after

Your chances are not “done;” but you realllllllllly need to take it up a notch. Are you applying for Cali or out of state? Cali makes it much easier. Does your school have a partnership with USC?
You need to explain why you did so poorly. If you don’t have an explanation they will assume you goofed off or are not really serious. If you have a good explanation, your chances will not be diminished if you do very well ( like get practically a 3.8-4.0) for the next 2 or three semesters.

best of luck!

Hahaha, its no easier to get into USC from anywhere… Its a private school, and there are no partnerships, although there are articulation agreements which guide you in taking transferable courses.
Just get all As from now on. Try really hard to get an A in calc, they weight the bus. program pretty highly on math… I remember going to business u-grad admissions and them telling me how its one of the most quantitative bus. programs around. Transferring into the bus. school from within USC is pretty much dependent on how you do in your math classes.
So ya, it doesnt matter where you apply from, I assure you… and I messed up far worse than probably anyone on here, and just worked my ass off for a long time doing anything possible and they let me in. they are private and really look at the students… GPA is not everything to them, which is what makes it such an awesome place. Its not full of 4.0 students with no character… I have met so many of the most interesting people there.
So do well, get in, and enjoy the greatest school on earth!

what are your hs stats?

you dont have a chance for sophmore admissions, perhaps you might have one for junior admissions…a D in a basic calc course does not bode well for you however…youre going to have to get a 4.0 from here on out, but if you got a B and a D taking only two classes your first semester, you really have to be realistic about whether you are capable of getting an A from here on out…everybody who has a poor semester in college says they will get a 4.0 afterwords, but usually those who are able to get a 4.0 do it
