Screwed up in the past, any time to redeem?

Hey, guys. This is my first post. (Yay! But..no one cares.)
In my high school freshman year, I didn't care about grades at all. Despite taking high math, I slacked off a lot, but managed to scrape a 3.665UW.
Sophomore year was bad senioritis. I took some challenging courses (AP hist., Adv. eng, AP BC, Adv. span), but I never went to school regularly. I missed in total of about 2.5 months of school, I think. So, I got a 3.32. That brings me to an average of 3.493UW.
This is pretty late, but I've figured out how to overcome my procrastination. As a Junior next year, I'll be taking 3 APs and 2 Honors. I know for a fact that I can get a 4.0 next year. Is there anything else that can make up for my low GPA? What can I do to get into the likes of UC Davis, UCB, UCSD, UCLA, Stanford, Brown, Cornell etc.?

I have yet to take SATs and ACTs.

Btw, I do a lot of ECs. I'm a GS and in:
- vars. swim, jv soccer, jv/vars. tennis.
- NHS, Interact, Key Club, Chinese Club
- in asb, and officer positions in Interact and Chinese Club
- competitive boat racer,
- band, can play 3 instruments

Please, 'yall. Help a girl out who's finally realized she wants to do something with her life!
- worked as a tutor
- 100+ community service

3.665+3.32+4.0=10.985

10.985/3= 3.661

^That would be about your overall GPA if you keep a 4.0 next year. It might be a little higher or lower depending on the number of classes you take.

Will you get into an ivy league with that? Probably not. Will you get into a good school with that? Yes. You can.

Keep up your 4.0, Take the SATs until you ace them, and keep up with your ECs. At this point, that’s all you can do.

They look at weighted GPA too, so dont sweat. They have like a formula, you should be fine for Davis and San Diego if you get a good SAT score. UCB/ UCLA you need an even better SAT score, they will see you have challenging coursework. Just make sure you have some interesting extracurriculars.

Also, UCs don’t use your freshman year in GPA calculuations.

As for Stanford, Brown, and Cornell, definitely a reach.

I like to tell everyone to not discourage themselves. Work as hard as you can. Yeah, your chances of getting into an ivy are small, but they’re not totally nonexistent. my college counselor, teachers, etc all told me i had no chance of getting into an ivy with my 3.27 UW but i ended up getting accepted to penn (granted, my school is extremely successful with college admissions) along with several other good schools - vandy, carnegie mellon compsci, harvey mudd, etc. apply to many schools and your chances increase if you don’t totally bs the apps. if you want it, at least give it all you’ve got.

edit: and before anyone asks, i’m not a URM…i’m actually an ORM.

^ I agree.

Apply to all of the schools that you can/want to. Your grades aren’t really that bad. I think CC is bad for the soul, because its full of straight A students. In reality, most prep schools don’t produce tons of straight A students.

I’m above average at my school, and I’ve carried Cs.

But I’m aaaasian. Does that hurt my chances even more? Can I make it up in any other way?

Being an Asian will most likely affect your chances at the more populated UCs in California. But not by a lot, unless your just your average Asian with X scores and X GPA and similar ECs like tennis lol.

Stand out, write wonderful essays, and do something that someone would not normally do!

what GPA would a 93 be?

Wow, most blatant thread hijack ever.

You can’t get senioritis as a sophomore.

Just go to school more often, and study for the SAT and ACT.
