screwed up on march 10 essay...

my prompt was the one about low vs. high expectations, and i kinda drew a blank at first since it took me a while to think of examples. eventually i decided to use a personal one, which i thought was pretty well developed, but the kicker was that i ran out of time right after my SECOND paragraph! so my whole essay consisted of only an intro and the paragraph on my personal example, so how much does the actual length and structure of the essay count into the scoring? i mean i only had one example and didn't even have time for a conclusion, so is that gonna hurt my essay score?

ouch.. that's rough. i talked to my SAT tutor about not finishing in past classes and he told me that incomplete essays will take you down to around a 6-8. however, if your first two paragraphs are super, then who knows? you could beat the odds and get around a 10!

Well, UCantTouch9Feet, if it makes you feel any better, I didn't finish my January SAT essay either - didn't have time to write a conclusion. However, I did get a little farther than you, for I was on my fourth paragraph when time was called. I ended up with a 10. If your first two paragraphs are well developed, you probably can expect a 6-8 as megan15 said.

I guess I'll chime in and say that I didn't get to finish my essay either. I'd just started my fourth paragraph (body) when time was called. I just hope I get an 8 or 9...

It doesn't count that much, 30% of the writing section, and figure you got half of it. This is bad for me because I feel I did well on the essay (I used MLK Jr. and Nazi Germany), and screwed up the math section

Not finishing they tend to be lenient on, but only two paragraphs is going to be a big negative, unfortunately.
