Screwed up the Statement of Legal Residence Form

So, I was filling out the SLR on BearFacts. I answered a couple questions and clicked submit. I was puzzled with the brevity of the form when the prior page said that it would require around 20 minutes to fill out and information such as my parents driver's license, citizenship, etc. I asked my friends and they told me that after answering the questions, a new window should have popped out for the meat of the application. Unfortunately, I clicked "submit" prematurely and now I'm afraid I won't be deemed as a legal resident of CA, thus imposing a $11,500 fee on me. What should I do? The SLR form is due by the 1st of May!

For many students who attended California high schools for four years, the SLR was an extremely brief process just like you described. When the home address on the application and the school of record are all local, they tend not to ask for too much input, but when either or both are outside of California, that is when they need some detailed information to decide where they consider your parents legal residence.

If there was required information that you didn’t enter then it is pretty unlikely that the Submit button would quietly accept your submission.

Thank you rider730! you really made my day :D

wow the same thing happened with me!! I was so confused when I simply answered yes to five questions and finished when the guide said it would take about 20 minutes and require much information like dirver license and other stuff.

Yeah same, here I freaked out so much, I actually called the Office of the Registrar and was told that for those who attended a California high school for 4 years, the process was really fast and didn’t require any additional information.

i logged back onto that part, and it says you can submit changes to the address provided in a handwritten letter.
