Screwed?

My first semester grades were all B’s and higher, but AP Government and Politics came out to be…a 67.

I got deferred from a few schools. Should I expect rejection letters from most schools now? Would appreciate honesty and not patronage, though some would be nice!

Apply to a less selective college such as Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Admission guarranteed! (not to sound mean)

Is it possible to send letters to the colleges you’ve applied to and explain the circumstance? Is the 67 a result of slacking off, or has the course been a struggle?

Also, the decisions depend on the selectivity of the colleges. If you’ve applied to highly selective ones, the chances of rejection have likely increased though acceptance is still a possibility.

In the event that the decisions don’t swing in your favor, late application is an alternative - some schools take students up until the next school year, actually! A gap year is also another possibility and gives you time to pursue other meaningful activities and reflect on your high school experience, I suppose. However, it is too early to say anything, and I wish you all the best as you receive your decisions!
