Anything else im missing please say so, this is my first time putting up my "stats"

Your gpa is on the low side especially if you are OOS. It is not low if it is uw, but definetly low for w.

Remember UMD only takes @25$ from OOS so it is very competitive in that arena.

Otherwise re-take the SAT---aim for 2100+, try the ACT you might get a higher score.

Finally realize the only you won't get in is if you don't apply!

Good luck

actually im in-state so hopefully that increases my chances and i am thinking about retaking the SAT and working on taking the ACT. Also that is my uw gpa my w is around 3.6.

More replies would be encouraging.

I do not think you are screwed. Your GPA is a little low but not out of the running. My advice is to get some excellent teacher and counselor recommendations, write a killer essay, and maybe retake the SAT. Are you a senior????

Good luck mnkyman!

haha thanks for the encouragement and no im not a senior yet, i know this makes people question how i know my gpa already but my school does it differently so i already have everything for my college admission. For the SAT should i aim for about a 2100? or would i need even higher to have a shot.

Thanks for these replies :D

for instate, you've got a really good chance, and the 25/75 SAT percentile is 1170-1380 (CR + M) A 2100 SAT is a good rule of thumb for Honors, and to put you in consideration for merit $$. The best thing you can do is to get great grades in school -- your GPA is your ticket.

I think you have a decent shot especially if you are willing to start in the January semester.

Thanks for everyone that replied, i was starting to stress about not being able to make the cut for CP thinking i had screwed myself over with my freshman GPA. Is the january session similar to early admission or is there some reason why that would get me a higher chance of admittance? Sorry im not really sure how this all works.

It's the other way around. Every year after fall admits, there are some number of people who didn't "make the cut" for fall, and are offered admission for the January that follows. I don't think you get on-campus housing that first (spring) semester.

If you are not a senior, than you are not eligible to apply. If you are not eligible to apply, than your gpa will change. I am not sure how your school can do this b/c every college requires your sr. transcript and your final transcript. This makes no sense what if you fail you jr. yr? Not trying to be pessimistic, just trying to help you understand that your gpa will change and colleges want the most current. Remember your SAT's are placed in your official transcript also. Thus, if your school is going to submit only your 9th and 10th grades, it won't have updated ones.

Sit back and relax...UMCP will not even acknowledge you at this point. They are only dealing with 09 grads.

Alright then haha, thanks for clarifying that January thing.

Not all high schools report SAts on their transcripts. With the new reporting, you may be able to send the ones you want

You are not a senior yet and already had your 4 AP scores? That's impressive.

Yeah because i took Ap stat and AP world in freshman and AP US and AP Eng in sophmore
