Thought I’d start a thread in case anyone had information to share about timing and decisions for Scripps RD. My daughter has applied. Good luck everyone!
Financial aid office told us before the end of March.
I was hoping it might be middle of March like some other LACs. Scripps is high on my D’s list! Tks for the info!
If they follow the same pattern as last year, decisions will be out Wednesday, March 21st.
Hey! New york applicant who didn’t visit but LOVES scripps (SO MUCH)! Waitlisted ED1 (I know, it’s funky) from Wesleyan, but Scripps has a really specific political science program that I love (so I’m nervous to hear back!!)
Does anyone have knowledge about the importance of an interview at Scripps?? I’ve seen mixed thoughts on CC about it. The Common Data set says they are “considered” as opposed to “important” or “very important”, but wondering what the consensus is. Will it hurt ones chances of admission if they haven’t had one?
@wrenwu , my D missed the deadline to schedule an interview last year, and she did not even visit campus, although we live in the Bay Area and it wouldn’t have been that difficult. Her stance was, “I’ll visit if I get in.” My concern was, “You may be sinking your chances of getting in by not visiting or interviewing.” She basically shrugged and said she didn’t think she’d end up there anyway, because it was going to be too expensive, so why get invested? Despite her glaring lack of “demonstrated interest,” she was not only admitted but also offered Scripps’ largest merit award. Then Scripps paid for her to visit, and she ended up attending. Her stats were roughly at 75th percentile for admitted students (with good EC’s but nothing wildly unusual), so she was well-qualified but not a slam-dunk for significant merit aid. I think they must have seen good “fit” in her essays.
I would still assume that having an interview is better than not having one, but skipping it is not a deal-killer.
Thank you @aquapt ! My D loves Scripps, but never scheduled an interview. She too is in the high 75the percentile with very good ECs and recommendations. I was getting very nervous for her now that she’s anxiously awaiting decision day and I thought her lack of “demonstrated” interest might hurt her. Hopefully her applications and essays will convey her interest well enough. Fingers crossed, as I know she will be very disappointed if Scripps is not one of her choices.
Does anyone know when we hear back? I’m in the 75th percent for test scores and probably just around 60th for grades.
21st I think
Has anyone contacted admissions to ask?
Daughter just got decision: rejected
Just got waitlisted…this was one of my top schools so now I’m kinda nervous
My D got waitlisted. We are shocked actually. 1550 SAT 12 APs,4.0, 4.8 weighted GPA. Tons of music ECs. Visited and interviewed. She accepted waitlist spot…it was one of her top picks. No chance of merit now unfortunately even if she does get a spot off waitlist.
Accepted!!

1430 SAT
Really good essays
Unique sport and decent extracurriculars

Lots of ECs and awards in Model UN, Spanish, editor of newspaper, cross country captain, camp counselor, bio lab shadowing. Great essays and recs I think.
Did interview and visited from east coast so that helped, I’m sure.
She needs merit aid for this to be an option so she’s thrilled!
Good luck, everyone!!
D accepted with Founders Scholarship! 34 ACT, 8 APs, lots of community service, Great essays and wonderful recs. Did not interview or do a formal tour. Lots of decisions ahead…she’s thrilled to have Scripps as fantastic option.

ACT: 33 composite
SAT II: Bio-E 760, Chinese 760 (lol terrible for a Chinese person)
I visited and interviewed.
My stats are fine (nothing stellar), but I think it was my extracurriculars and essays. But there are also so many amazing women that apply and I think that it’s just luck and trying to build a diverse class.
@AlmostThere2018 Congrats! Where on the portal does it mention scholarships?
