For those who have been willing to follow the college choice dilemma with my daughter, she called this morning and they agreed to consider her app for ED 1. I suppose they agreed because her file was complete and on site since November 1. So now all we have to do is wait for Dec. 15th and hope for the best. My daughter is relieved, a bit nervous, and generally hopeful. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for all the thoughtful responses!

Best wishes to you and your D! At least Dec. 15th isn't toooo long to hold your breathe....

Too cool. Don't you just love little schools? I hope she gets in. D's app is all there but in that RD round. :(

Great news! Best of luck to your daughter in the ED round. Looking forward to reading happy news from you in December.

Thanks all. Yes, I am impressed that they were flexible about switching her. Carolyn, I was aware of those stats, but it was brought to my attention that the most recent 2004 common data set found on the Scripps website now shows that 51% come from ED and about 46% from RD. Don't know what happened to the other 3%. I think their applicant pool is getting stronger overall, and more students are choosing it as their first choice now. I was told by a friend that 6 students applied from their private school last year and none were accepted. Of course, that makes me a bit nervous, but being in the ED 1 pool now assures me that she has given it her best shot and if it doesn't work out, so be it. There are other very good options for her too. Still, I hope to report happy news mid-December.

I'm sure you will have good news in December - Scripps is a great school and your daughter sounds to me like a great fit. Best of luck to her!!!

Best wishes to your daughter from a current Scripps freshmen. Feel free to PM me with any questions about the school, btw.

I was pretty sure that Scripps would accept to move the app to EDI, but did not want to jinx the chances by saying so! I hope it will work out for the best. If your D is accepted, we'll make sure to send an official request to HMC to return the furniture to Pomona ... you know those famous duct tape decorated pieces that imitate lawn lounges. :)

Ha ha. Ok, xiggi. :)

Oh, and my friend pointed out that I misquoted the data in my earlier post. The correct information is that Scripps ACCEPTED (not enrolled) 51% from ED and ACCEPTED 46% from RD. ( So that's why the numbers don't add up to 100%). The number of students ENROLLED in the freshman class from ED was 21% (up from 12% in the previous year).
