So I applied ED at Scripps College--yes that beautifully, amazing women's college in Claremont, CA and I just received a defferal.

I really want to go there, and they said that I would be considered with the rest of the RD applicants in Spring so it's not entirely bad news, but I couldn't find any admissions statistics for deferral acceptances or rejections.

I appreciate whatever kind words of support you guys have for me and honestly, I'm a bit thunderstruck. Anyone have stories to share? Information that may enlighten me?

Awww, pink. I don’t have any useful information for you at all, just sympathy. Scripps does look like a magical spot, doesn’t it? You are right to focus on the fact that you get a second chance at admission. I’ll cross my fingers for you, and buck up! This is not allowed to be a tragedy for more than a day.
Perhaps soon you’ll be signing your posts “comi-tragically,” or tragi-comically"?
Sympathetically,
anouilh

Don’t give up! Your best option would be to just harass the heck out of dear old Scripps. Let them know constantly how much you still want to go, any new achievements, and send them anything that will make you stand out. I heard about a guy who sent a statue to U of Chicago and was accepted the week later (he was waitlisted). OK, far-fetched example. But depending on how much Scripps means to you, just SHOW them how you feel. You DEFINITELY still have hope :)

Agree that keeping in touch so they know you are interested, and sending along info on any new accomplishments is a good idea. But it is also important to pick yourself up and work hard on your other applications, too, just to ensure you have other good choices to pick from. Good luck!

Thank you so much everyone for the amazingly comforting words!

I have contacted Scripps and I will be keeping in touch with them. Not only that, I realized that there was a mistake on my application. Until then, I have continued my journey of applications with other colleges I like.

Hope you all have a happy holiday! AND a wonderful New YEAR!

**If anyone has other information about Scripps deferral, I will still be delighted to receive any advice! Thank you :)

Dont give up! I also applied ED and I got in. I think maybe u may wanna communicate with them. show them why and how much you love Scripps. hope to see u on campus next fall.

Hi there. I’m a senior at Scripps.
I have a lot of friends who were deferred ED and were accepted RD over the years. This being said, it all depends on the year and the applicants. A deferral means they really are looking twice at your application and see that you are a fit for Scripps. If they did not believe that, a rejection would have been sent instead!

I would definitely keep in contact with Scripps, to continue to show them you care. In however this means to you, but keep in mind the Office of Admissions is extremely busy finishing up reading applications!

First of all, I would like to thank each and every person who posted on this thread for your amazingly kind words. I truly appreciate all the support and advice!

Next, I’m so excited to tell you all THAT I GOT IN! Cannot wait to join this amazing college. It’s a dream come true.

anouilh-- you were right, I will be signing my posts off differently from now on

Pink! This is wonderful news. Thank you for checking in, and maybe I will meet you on campus in August when my daughter starts her life at Scripps. Good for you for keeping the faith.
Joyfully,
anouilh :)
