Scripps is top choice, help us put together a list of possibles?

If she loves Scripps that much, just go ED…I think it’s very likely that she’ll get in. I don’t know that you’ll end up needing a safety.

Does her high school have Naviance? I’d be very surprised to see candidates with those numbers who didn’t get into Scripps, even RD.

For dance and liberal arts, and an easier admit, add Skidmore. Maybe Conn College (tougher admit). They are not as highly regarded for math/science but she could make it work. I love the suggestion of Smith (proud alum) – the 5-College Consortium has everything and then some. If you don’t need to compare fin aid offers ED would be great since she loves Scripps so much. But do be sure to have a back-up plan in place because last year’s admissions cycle was brutal. Pomona (next door) went down to a 12% acceptance rate.

Personally I can’t wait to send our two youngest daughters to a women’s college. Best of luck!

Hanna, her school does have Naviance, and it showed us that exactly 2 students applied to Scripps during the time period shown. They did both get in, and they were both slightly lower in stats than D. But that was at least a couple of years ago and, as momcinco says, things seem to be getting tougher year by year.

Thanks to everyone else as well – it does seem like the schools she’s drawn to are also those most likely to give her the quieter living experience she’s looking for.

Update: D got into Scripps ED!

Thanks everyone for the advice and support.

the advice you’re getting from your private counselor is good, but I see no safeties. Get a couple that you can absolutely afford.

do yourself a favor, OP, and run those net price calculators for each school.

Thanks, @jkeil911, but my D got into Scripps ED – see my update.

Thanks for the updates! Congratulations!

Very good. I’m a firm believer in the advantages of the Claremont Consortium.

Congratulations!!!

Have you considered University of San Francisco?

Congratulations, isn’t it nice to have it over with? Sounds like a really great pick for her, well considered. She can sort of have a small college experience but step across the street anytime she wants. And ONT is so convenient, although I don’t know how many flights they are having and what the future is of that airport.

There are several flights a day to/from SFO, which is definitely super convenient. Not sure about the future of the airport, though to be frank I don’t see service to the LA area becoming less in demand any time soon. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start pulling business from Burbank airport as that becomes busier. Small airports are so much easier to fly in and out of.

And thanks to everyone for the congratulations! It is definitely the ideal school for her. And I have to share something that made me very proud – when the paper acceptance arrived in the mail it had “Nice essays!” handwritten across the bottom of the letter. She put in a lot of work on her essays and it sure is nice to know that someone actually read and appreciated them! Who knows if it made the difference – she was a good match stats-wise anyway, besides having the kind of profile they seem to like in their students – but at least someone liked her essays!

I’d say the essays had a LOT to do with her acceptance.
