Congrats to those who got in, and sorry for the disappointments. It’s easy to see, even just from the small sample posted here, how unpredictable the decisions can be. (It also shows how skewed the College Confidential sample is - so if those of you who are disappointed are feeling like you’re in the minority, remember that the reality is very much the opposite!)
It’s a little hard to say how much Scripps will pull from the waitlist. Two years ago they over-admitted and ended up with a huge class and a housing crunch, and needless to say no wait list offers were made. (But there were unusual factors behind why that happened.) Last year they swung in the other direction, making 100% sure not to over-enroll by making fewer offers and then drawing from the waitlist. It’s anybody’s guess what the strategy is this year. The need to manage class size carefully still exists, so I’d imagine that they’re still admitting somewhat conservatively and expecting to make some offers from the waitlist, but the outcome will depend on yield. For any of you, like @lfaust18 , who genuinely consider Scripps your first choice and got waitlisted, definitely write them a Letter of Continued Interest expressing that you would attend if admitted. I hope all of you land in great places that you love, whether Scripps works out or not. Hang in there

sometimes colleges won’t let kids in because they assume they won’t be attending. I got waitlisted at my safety, don’t worry about it!

Lots of tears?
My daughter is very excited about her acceptance to Scripps. For those who didn’t get in, just keep trying. The right school is out there. I didn’t get into exactly the school I wanted to – and it was a great experience. I wouldn’t have traded it for anything.
I am still struggling to figure out how to get to the Financial Aid information. Our ability to come to Scripps will be dependent on Financial Aid. I see others with the same question. Do you think they will send us an e-mail with the Student ID or do you think we need to contact the Financial Aid office ourselves. I checked last year’s thread and it didn’t look like they had this problem.
@BayAreaDad1122 I emailed Scripps about the student ID and they emailed me back this morning saying that they will post the finaid letter to the portal by this evening.
Congrats to those accepted
@booklover13 Thank you! It finally arrived.
does anyone know the acceptance rate for this year?
daughter was disappointed to be waitlisted. Both of her older sisters applied and were accepted to Scripps. One will still be there next year. Her grades and SAT scores were slightly better than her sisters and she had similar ECs. Great essay and references. So we all expected she would get in. Fortunately, she did get into Colorado College so she is happy to have that option.
