Hi all,
After a long stuggle with myself, i think i have decided to go with my essay as a script. It might sound crazy but it is actually a conversation between 3 of my coats! It might sound bizarre but i have had positive feeback from those who have read it so far. I was thinking that this would also be a god way to stand out, but my concern is that they might think it is childish and I haven’t follwed the brief which is an essay. Has anyone done a script before? And what are your thoughts?
Seriously? You realize that this is for college admit reviews, not some offbeat writing contest, right?
You never want adcoms rolling their eyes and asking, “What was she thinking?” Or, “Was she thinking?” Standing out isn’t about weird. It’s about quality.
I do think you’ll stand out, but not in the way you want.
The point behind this essay is to let the reader get to know you a bit better-- to separate you from your statistics. It’s supposed to enhance your application to college.
Don’t believe all you’ve read about being “weird” or “quirky.” Those aren’t the point.
It actually does say a lot about me. I have always looked at things a little differently, i am quite out of the box. And my number 1 EC is drama so it kinda ties in. Reckon i could add you on something or email it you so you could give it a read for me? It’s only a first draft but it would be good to get a stangers perspective
Sure. Copy it into the body of a PM.
I dont know how to do that but ill figure it out
Click on my name, then go to “send mail” or however it’s phrased.
The squeeze test isn’t whether it says a lot about you. It’s what it says about you (and shows,) including judgment, in this particular context. They’re reviewing you for an admit. They want to see certain thinking and attributes. So does this help match you to them? Do you know what would?
You’re in the UK, have a 24 ACT thinking of Vanderbilt and Lehigh. There will be lots of stellar apps from the UK and other English-speaking countries. Imo, this isn’t the the time to get artsy. It’s the time to be savvy, see their perspective.
Even if you want an arts major, coats talking? Many times we see adcoms don’t want people speaking via a script, much less, coats.
For all the CC talk about unique, much of admissions is how you conform to *their * expectations. Think carefully. Make a wise choice.
yeah I got it
