On CMU's academic requirements page in high school classes, it says "2 years of Chemistry, Biology or Computer Science." I haven't taken two years of chemistry or biology, but I have taken a year of computer programming and AP computer science A each. Both courses were the same in teaching java programming. Would computer programming count toward the "2 years of computer science" requirement? Thanks.

It is “preferred” requirements.

1 year physics PLUS 2 years of any combo. They do want to see difficult core subject areas. Chem, physics or AP CS.

How can you be graduating high school without 3 years of science classes?
CS is typically a math HS listing not science.
Didn’t you have to take bio or chem somewhere?

It is “preferred” – they are basically looking to see that you took the most rigorous and challenging courses as evidence you can handle CS
