do any of you know much about the accreditation for cmu's scs? i searched the website forever and have emailed dr. wing (department head), but i'm a bit impatient...

CMU's CS department is not ABET accredited, but neither is either Standford's or MIT's. ABET accredidation essentially means nothing for CS majors- it does, however, matter for engineering, and everything in CIT is accredited. MS, Google, and Apple are each on campus more than once a semester to recruit- they don't care, because they know our curriculum is great.

it must mean absolutely nothing...they have miami u of ohio listed as accredited for CS, but not cmu! that's a bit aggravating... i was hoping to apply for the scholarships through the society of women engineers, but i guess i can't now. sigh thanks for pointing that out, though!

No problem. I applied for a scholarship through SWE anyways, before my freshman year, and never heard back from them. You might try looking for chapters of things with names like "association for women in computing" that are near you.
