SCU Class of 2025 EA

Daughter was accepted into Neuroscience Major. Congrats everyone who got their acceptance today!

D wants to go the pre-med route. Would love to hear more from folks who are in pre-med or from parents who have kids in pre-med at SCU.

My daughter got into Leavey School of Business but no major is specified. Is this normal? We did pick a major on the application.

@NateandAllisMom My D could take the train to SCU, quicker than driving.

Though SCU is wonderful option and we’re very excited over here, it’ll be wait and see for the UC’s and CSU’s in March.

Does anyone know the chances of getting in if you are deferred? Son had a 3.8 weighted GPA; likely rising to a 4.0 by January. No test scores due to cancellation. Great ECs and leadership activities. Comes from a top Jesuit high school.

No one can say for sure, but I’d say the odds are pretty good.

In round numbers, last year SCU accepted a total of 8,000 applicants from a total of 16,000 apps. 1/2 those apps (8,000) were submitted EA and ED. The other half were RD apps.

The level of an applicant’s interest is considered per the CDS and submitting the app EA shows interest. They’ll probably ask for 1st semester grades, so hopefully those will give him the bump needed.

Deferred EA, but I’d honestly take it as a win. 3.28 UW GPA, 3.37 W GPA, 2.5 GPA freshmen year, 3.7 GPA sophomore year, 4.1 GPA junior year, and I’m on track for earning a 4.5 GPA first semester Senior year which would look really good in regards to SCU. Applied for Biology.

I even got a D in Algebra II as well, and I have no test scores to report, but I have a Kaiser Permanente Internship, UIUC Engineering high school program, Discover Swarthmore Fly-in program, UCLA EAOP advanced writing bootcamp, Science Olympiad Captain, Founder of my own Online business, Working full-time to dismantle financial barriers imposed by the pandemic, and a plethora of other community service events and leadership positions.

Schools I’ve gotten Accepted so far: University of San Francisco (Top choice so far), Westmont College, University of La Verne, University of the Pacific, Vanguard University, University of San Diego, San Diego Christian College, Holy Names University, Point Loma Nazarene University, Biola University (Second choice so far).

Schools I’ve gotten Deferred so far: Soka University of America, Santa Clara University.

Schools I’ve gotten Rejected so far: None (yet).

You can ask to change your application to EDII. That would show commitment and may give you a boost. Good luck.

super curious about the merit part since D applied with no score. Looks like the Deans Scholarships are all over the board from as low as $3k up to $17k. That’s a big difference.

Agree. It’s a weird year.

im able to click on the financial aid tab on ecampus yet it says no awards to be shown, does that mean i got nothing?

Same here - eCampus opened up but “There are no awards to be displayed”. Not sure if we got shut out or if they haven’t been reported yet.

From the SCU Admissions Facebook account:
"Congratulations to the newest Broncos to join the SCU family!

Early Action and Early Decision I admission decisions have been posted in your SCU application portal. In a year unlike any other, we received the highest number of applications ever at 8,600+! We appreciate your patience and long-awaited anticipation.

Potential financial aid and scholarships will be posted by next week."
Also, early apps are up from last year’s 8,280.

when I open up eCampus it says view/print award letter, and “please click the PDF icon to view your award letter” but the PDF icon is not clickable. and it says “Award Letter is not available.” does anyone else have that?

I think maybe they opened it up but they won’t display the actual financial aid and awards for a couple more days.

it shows the same thing for us
