ok, it has been a while and i still cant decide. CAL or UCSD?!?!?

i got in to bioengineering for both schools

CAL:
-prestige
-i like the campus
-social life is plentiful
-near SF which i like
-all around better school

SD:
-gave me lots of money
-regents scholar
-good weather
-good program for bio e
-i like the campus as well

CAL:
-very competitive
-i have to pay more
-dorms arnt great
-didnt give me as much money as sd

SD:
-i heard its boring
-lots of people drop out of the bioE program
-everything else arnt as good as cal.

what if i ended up changing majors?? then cal would be a better choice, since all the other programs at cal is better than sd's??
ahh i just dont know what to do.

i want to eventually go to med or grad school. i know ucsd has a med school on its campus. though cal doesnt, it has UCSF, which i heard is very accessible from cal.

soo... help me decide... i gotta make a choice this week probably...

Both schools are extremely competitive, and engineering is not an easy path to med school where undergrad grades are paramount.

But, between the two, I recommend Cal. If you change your major to other Engineering, you are in the #2 Eng school in the country. If you change to L&S you still earn a degree from the #1 public in the country. And, as you noted, the social scene can be great.

i know research is a big deal in college. which school offers better opportunitites for research?? sd has a medical school on campus so im guessing sd... but should this affect my decision on picking a school??

also, is it easier to do well in bioE in sd or cal??

thanks for the feedback guys

I agree with bluebayou. Which do you personally prefer? Don't take all the factors like cost into account. Which do you like more?

i just found out that i didnt get the berkeley alumni scholarship... which means that if i go to berkeley, they only scholarship that i will be getting is the undergraduate scholarship of around 5000... (is the undergrad scholarship paid every year?)

at sd i get 12,000 a year and other priviledges (regents) and maybe more if i get alumni scholarship there...

im kinda disappointed about not getting the scholarship for cal... i've had two interviews, one for regents and one for alumni.. i didnt get either...
