SDSU Admission Rescinded Fall 2017

Hi,

I’m a transfer student who applied to SDSU in the Fall of 2016, as an intended ISCOR major with an overall 2.7 GPA. I sent my official transcripts around February/March, heard of my acceptance around March/April, and followed the steps for the Intent to Enroll in May, payed the $400 Intent to Enroll fee and was pretty much all set and ready to just maintain my GPA until then.

Yesterday I got in the mail that my admission was cancelled at SDSU for the following reason: “Complete the minimum of 60 or more transferrable units by the end of spring 2017”. Devastation and all aside, it made absolutely no sense to me because I had around ~67 units completed at the time I applied, not including the classes I’m taking for this semester. Regardless, I’ve definitely taken more than 60 units and I know they’re transferrable because I’ve met with my counselors to ensure I was on track before applying. I’m currently a student at Palomar College. I’m currently working on a appeal, but I just wanted outside thoughts on my current circumstance and any advice. I’m not sure if I made any mistakes on the self-reporting area of my application or something. I don’t know how it wasn’t reflected in my transcripts.

Any advice on how to approach an appeal with my circumstance?

Also, it’s not the end of spring 2017. The semester isn’t over for Palomar until May 25th. So I really, really don’t understand why my admission was revoked.

All you can do is contact admissions and find out why they think you do not meet the 60 unit minimum. I would also enlist your CC counselor/advisor and have them possibly intercede on your behalf and find out what the problem is with your transferable units.

I also assume you meet you are transferring for Fall 2017… not 2016.

This same thing happened to me. I was accepted and then rescinded because they said I will not meet the requirement but I have 62 units. They told me the only thing I could do is to appeal the decision and I have been waiting about a month now and they still have not made a decision on my appeal.
