I was wondering about the appeal process and if anyone has successfully been readmitted
My recent spring quarter seems to be what has affected my admission, I have been going through some family problems which I do not want to use as an excuse but I hope to make a successful appeal
@shamster: All appeal applicants are still waiting to hear with the exception of one denial and these individuals appealed many months ago like in April. You have nothing to lose by appealing, but make sure you have documentation to show that your family issues contributed to your academic performance.
Best of luck.
Would a subpoena notice count as documentation?
I would submit a copy of the subpoena notice if that helps your case.
It is the only official document I have of the situation however is does not describe what happened…
Then you need to elaborate on the situation in your appeal statement and use that for official documentation to backup your statement.
Dear Admissions Committee Members,
I am currently writing this in regards to my Fall 2018 admission to San Diego State University being rescinded. Recently I have received the letter dated July 14th on the 21st and would like to address the situation.
Spring Quarter of 2018 at Deanza College was not one of my proudest moments and I believe that I can do better.
I drive about a two hour commute to and from school everyday. During the winter quarter I was involved in a car accident where a tow truck nearly overturned my car on the freeway. Experiencing this incident has given me travel anxiety and has hindered my ability to commute to and from school. Regardless of the mental strain it has caused me, I continued to commute knowing the importance of school. I will also be taking extra measures to heal and move past my accident by going to counseling.
During the beginning of the spring quarter my family went through domestic violence. My home environment is frankly unhealthy and often very scary. I live in a household where my mother works two jobs just to support the family while my father struggles with addiction to various substances. We receive verbal abuse and threats on a day to day basis. Recently, everything had finally exploded resulting in an altercation between my parents that resulted in my dad going to jail for two weeks. Attached to this letter I have included two subpoenas regarding the case mentioned.
After the previously mentioned event, my mother lost one of her jobs and decided to take a break back home in Hong Kong which had left me at home alone with my father for about a month. During this time I was not able to sleep or eat well due to the daily verbal threats and stress from my father. At this point my physical and mental health had been severely affected and could not keep a consistent attendance to class for two weeks, negatively impacting my grades and relationship with my professors.
In addition to the series of unfortunate events, my father cancelled our phone and internet services that my mother and I were paying for which in turn had caused me to fail two classes that were online based.
When I was first accepted into my dream transfer at San Diego State University, I was filled with utmost joy. I am terribly sorry that I could not maintain the requirements for admission during my spring quarter and would hope to get another chance to prove myself at San Diego State University. I believe that being able to study away from home in a safe and positive learning environment will allow me to further my success in my education and professional life.
How is my letter?
Good luck!
