I think it’s by major
Edited to say Oops!
yes that’s 10%
Wow. Would have thought those stats are enough to get into 99% of majors at SDSU.
Wondering about sociology, too. Similar stats. Twin admitted to biz in dec…
Same for my son. No update
My boyfriend has a 4.49 GPA and is enrolled in IB Diploma with a mix of AP classes throughout high school. He just got rejected today with the option to be put on the waitlist for biology. SDSU wasn’t his first choice but the fact that he got rejected with his stats is shocking to me. I could be wrong but it feels like the selection process is a little random
Would be good to get financial aid packages out. We were told they would be out around this date… without any financial aid/ scholarship(oos) my son won’t likely attend SDSU and would open a spot for those on waitlist.
Was it an option to upload your first semester senior grades to the sdsu portal?
SDSU doesn’t really offer financial aid or scholarships to OOS students. Once admitted you can apply for a few scholarships that SDSU offers. They will offer the parent plus loans and that’s about it if that is what you are waiting for.
My daughter: Environmental Engineering…still shows Pending.
Sorry to hear about his denial. Just for future information/reference, the maximum CSU Capped Weighted GPA is 4.4. P/NP classes may make the maximum slightly higher. Make sure he checks the CSU application for the correct GPA.
Cal states normally do not ask for 1st semester Senior grades as part of their application review. SDSU has requested Senior grades after a student has been admitted and plans to enroll to ensure they are on track to complete all the classes with passing grades.
Still pending for CS.
I had never checked my application for this info. It says 4.26 GPA and 24.5 years. Do you know what 24.5 years means?
Wow. I am surprised. I know their Business program is highly competitive but still surprised given your son’s #s.
24.5 years = # of year long a-g courses taken and in-progress for the 4 years of HS. Minimum a-g requirements is 15.
When I hear these super high stats students getting denied from good/but not great colleges, I am reminded of a neighbor student. Got denied from SDSU, was set to go to CC then transfer, and was pulled off Cal waitlist. Not good enough for SDSU, but good enough for Berkeley?! I think the pros call this yield protection or yield management. Sad, but that’s how they manage their enrollments.
Will I get in? 3.75 weighted. Math major
I have to disagree with this. My daughter is a current student at SDSU and her in state suite-mates had 4.2-4.5’s. I think it has much more to do with major applied for at each school.
