Denied for CS, 4.2 CSU GPA, local and in-state.

Not my top choice, but still… yikes.

Is your S leaning towards DePaul or Gonzaga? My D has been accepted to both of those as well (different major though). She likes DePaul a lot and will see Gonzaga in a couple of weeks. She’s a Bay Area kid as well.

Got rejected from SDSU nursing, in state 4.4 CSU GPA with a CNA course. This is kind of surprising considering I got into USFCA, NEU, Villanova, and UMass Amherst for nursing, but it is what it is. Good luck to everyone else!

did you just hear today? my daughter is still waiting. doesn’t seem like a good thing.

Yup, heard back just now

Daughter rejected for recreation admin and sustainable tourism at SDSU, however, was admitted to SLO for a similar major. 4.08 GPA cal state, 4.11 for SLO since they include 9th grade. Out of area for both. 3 AP’s, 5 CC classes Its a very tough year. She feels so fortunate to have SLO. Also rejected at UCD, and waitlisted UCSC.

@Ally86, S is leaning towards WPI right now. It’s an engineering school, but he wants to be a business major who specializes in technology. He wants to finance new tech and make millions. LOL. We’ll see… his #2 is probably Farmer School of Business or Gonzaga. We’re still waiting for Univ of San Diego but I don’t think that was high on his list.

@Gumbymom

Number of qualified applicants offered a place on waiting list 6,917
Number accepting a place on the waiting list 3,206
Number of wait-listed students admitted 326

Does this mean that only 326 chose to attend that were admitted or that only 326 students (10 %) were offered a spot and then they don’t list how many actually enrolled?

As said we are moving forward like we received a denial. Just curious…

It is the # they admitted but not enrolled.

I saw your post your D did not get into SDSU. I personally think she was so far advanced with all the CC classes she took, they probably did not know what to do with her in the program. Sounds like she has some wonderful options.

So finally getting a chance to post daughters full denial. No waitlist offered.

Im posting this for future nursing students applying to SDSU so there are no surprises.

Was also denied at Fullerton (Fullerton required an essay so there are other measures whereas SDSU states that they only measure a student by GPA, course rigor (# A-G), local and instate.)

For future nursing students, be sure to have a back up plan to California state schools. There are lots of schools that would love to have your kiddos, they just aren’t in CA. Dont give up!

I personally am disappointed but we have many other options so daughter will be fine.

Its really ridiculous IMO that SDSU offers OOS acceptances when the nursing program is this impacted. For those OOS that were admitted, this is not personal. I truly hope that your kiddos thrive and get a great education. (Im sure you can understand where I am coming from)

In State/non local
Nursing
4.0 UW
4.5 W
4.19 CSU GPA (diluted due to having 99 dual enrollment credits)
2- AA’s from CC by dual enrollment (Deaf studies/General Studies ) 4.0 at the CC
homeschooled through CA charter school
No test scores, No AP classes
34.5 A-G classes
Obtained her CNA license last year and currently works as a CNA

In addition the the 2 AA’s, completed all nursing prerequisites through dual enrollment with all A’s and 2 classes in progress this semester. (To be clear, this is ALL the nursing pre-reqs for SDSU program and still received a denial) Yes, daughter is not a “traditional” student but we played by the rules. I was assured that dual enrollment was looked at like AP classes for rigor.

Listing just the nursing prerequisites that were taken by dual enrollment: (has loads of other DE classes)
Human Physiology with Lab- A
Human Anatomy with Lab- A
Microbiology with Lab- IN PROGRESS this spring sem
Chemistry (General, Organic, Inorganic, or Integrated with Lab) - IN PROGRESS this spring sem
Oral Communication- A
Written Communication- A
Critical Thinking- A
Statistics- A

Moving forward…

I am not going to list all the schools that she WAS admitted to (because its over 30 schools) but if you need some ideas for affordable OOS schools if you don’t qualify for financial aid, see the post that was started for direct admit nursing BSN 2026.

Im not bitter, I promise. I have peace about this and know that she will thrive wherever she goes. Really just posting so that CA kiddos have a backup plan. Im thankful for College Confidential because I saw this coming.

Peace…

Can anyone possibly give me any insight into sdsu’s mechanical engineering program? I got in, and I am considering this school.

Did anyone receive any merit scholarships from SDSU? I’d love to hear any details on that. Thanks!!

Where you invited to apply for the SDSU merit scholarships? These are by invitation only and not automatic.
