SDSU and the Introvert

S3 just got admitted to SDSU and his major is stats/data science. Looking at a thread on another discussion board I saw lots of sentiments to the effect of “if you’re not a partier or not out-going, this might not be the place for you.” He has a good circle of friends but they’re into board games. Are there some experiences from SDSU introverts to provide a counter-point? Are there specific dorms that would be better for the someone who likes quiter pursuits? Might the Weber Honors College be a calmer environment?

SDSU is a HUGE school with so many clubs, sports, activities, groups, volunteer and intern opportunities that are available to anyone who seeks them. “Introverts” will find their tribe there.
Yes, the school has a reputation for parties, but that’s if you choose to do that sort of thing.
I have a nephew who goes there and is in the Pokémon club, and also has a dungeons and dragon group; he also follows the Aztec basketball games. He is on the nerdy side, but loves his school choice.

@Gumbymom has had a son just graduate from there. You can ask her specific questions.

Like aunt bea said, SDSU is a huge school. There are a lot of different types of people that come here. Yes the school emphasizes getting involved and making connections, which is important for every single field, but I’ve met many happy introverts here including myself. There’s literally a club for everything! Personally, I am enjoying my political clubs and I find it’s a great way to step out of my comfort zone and take advantage of just some of the opportunities that come with this school. Even greek life has laid back fraternities, such as delta beta tau. It’s great and I highly recommend this school, especially since San Diego has a great market for data science. I’m a completely different major but I am hoping to break into data science, I’ve heard the stats program is great here and if I were a freshman or sophomore I probably would have made the switch!
