Just wondering for those that are appealing do you think you have a high chance of getting your appeal approved? I just sent in my package today and I’m nervous to find out the results in a few months.
what was your basis of appeal?
@redwoodcity, basically stated that i can’t move cities or go to school out of the SD area due to me being the primary caretaker of my mom since she’s undergoing dialysis.
I will send positive thoughts your way and hope the appeal is accepted. My mom was on dialysis for several years and I understand the toll it take both on the patient and family. You are an amazing son/daughter to take care of your mom and at the same time pursue college. I wish you the best!
@redwoodcity, thank you so much!! It’s been rough lately, so the kind words are greatly appreciated!
I sent an appeal, my basis is: I am an out of state student wanting to transfer. I have 101 credits with a 2.99 overall GPA. I come from rural Alaska and had to overcome educational hurdles due to less opportunity/resources compared to urban schools and state cutbacks to our University of Alaska system which is why my GPA has taken a dip and why I want to transfer. I am also hoping that being an Alaska Native would also help since I am a minority.
Can someone tell me my chances? Im appealing on the basis that my step dad has severe PTSD and my mom and i are the caretakers for him. I’ve also had to work over 20 hours a week for more than half my high school career due to money problems.
3.6 gpa
1150 SAT
Hi @cat420, your situation sounds similar to mine. I think you have a good chance of getting your appeal approved. Hopefully there is still space to be accepted for your major. Best of luck to you.
Thank you very much @xpeachpie I originally applied undeclared but in my letter i explained i wanted to do anthropology. Do you know which major they will check the spots for ? Thanks for your help
Usually how long does the appeal process take? I have to make a decision quick on which city to move to. If it will take too long then I’ll just have to cross SD off the list. Although it was first choice.
@tenoi, Ive heard from the past that appeal decisions werent released until May-July at the latest.
@cat420, did you apply as a freshman or transfer?
@xpeachpie freshman
Practical question - SDSU wants official transcripts sent directly by your high school right? Would not be ok to send in with your appeal even if in sealed envelope? Seems odd that they’d want to get appeal piecemeal (including standardized test scores also sent directly/separately). Are you all asking your schools to send overnight mail? Ugh.
@Rottgrrl i would send it in separately. the want all your scores separately to make sure they aren’t tampered with (college board directly sends them scores and so does your school). People could change their grades etc. if it wasn’t sealed and mailed directly. Also the scores and appeal probably go to different places when they reach the admissions office (it’s not just one person looking at your application).
It says on the website that it is okay to send them in with your appeal packet, In order for the packet to be “complete”. However, the transcripts do need to be officially sealed @name121212 @Rottgrrl
@Cat420 - where are you seeing that? I only see the following direction: “You must request official transcripts be sent directly to the SDSU Office of Admissions.”
@Rottgrrl “Paper transcripts: Most high schools send their transcripts in the mail. For a paper transcript to be considered official, it must bear the school letterhead and remain in its original sealed envelope. If opened, the transcript will no longer be valid” It’s under the transcripts column at the bottom of the page
@Rottgrrl maybe to be safe, do both
Has anyone gotten an email saying their appeal was received yet?
