SDSU as an out of state student

Hey everyone,
I am a student from westchester county new york and I recently visited SDSU and loved it. I understand SDSU is a competitive place and I was wondering if you guys could give me a little feed back. I have a 3.1 GPA (standard classes) and I just took the SAT. I havent gotten the scores back but on my last test i scored an 1890 (580 math, 640 reading, 670 writing). I am the captain of our football team at my highschool and I am also a part of my churchs' youth group and I am a junior deacon at my church I also just received a volunteer award for my club.

I realize my GPA is on the low end, however, my schools naviance says the average accepted from my school is a 3.2, my highschool is nationally ranked and even the standard classes are really difficult. I was hoping they would see me as an out of state student who could pay higher tuition (which is not a problem) which I know they need and also a kid from the east coast could add some geographic diversity (i was the only out of state student at our info session). Do I have a chance? Its not my only option but I really did like it and I feel like its a good fit for me. Thanks for helping out

50/50 Chance unless you can get your GPA higher at the end of this year and you have an SAT of 1900+. See my original post before you moved your thread. Good Luck to you.

Will being an out of state student not applying for financial aid give me a leg up

CSU schools only use math and critical reading on the sat, so that’s 1220 for you. You’re a bit above the average (1144) on that.

Unfortunately, the average GPA is 3.76, not 3.2. It may be a reach.
