@gumbymom
I was just wondering if I have decent odds of being accepted to San Diego State.
Major: Economics in state
CSU GPA:3.82
SAT:1400
EI:4,456
My friend has been accepted in with a lower EI score in Econ and I’m getting a little anxious that I haven’t received a decision yet. Or if I am just a worry wart!
You are a competitive applicant for SDSU and you have a very good chance for an acceptance. Best of luck. I do not think SDSU is accepting in any particular order.
@Gumbymom Today at around 5:00 I was denied admission. My friend and I both took the same courses sophmore and junior year with 4APs and both at the same high school. I had a better GPA and SAT and had more work hours. We both applied for Pre-Econ and he was accepted with a lower EI score, I’m glad he got in, but I thought it was just based off of EI and Course Rigor so shouldn’t I have been admitted too. This is kind of my go-to school and is there anything else SDSU considers?
@Craftycob: SDSU looks at
- CSU GPA capped weighted
- SAT/ACT scores (they superscore both SAT/ACT)
- HS course rigor including in progress Senior year classes
- Geographic Location/State Residency
Work hours are not considered. Are you sure you had a higher GPA and SAT and you know their EI was lower? Many times unless you actually help your friend fill out their application, you cannot know for sure all the details. Did you send in both SAT and ACT results?
SDSU admits based off EI and major.
Yes my friend showed me his csu capped weight and his SAT was a 1350. I did send in both SAT and ACT would that cause an issue. I scored a 31 on the ACT
So your friends capped weighted was lower than 3.82 and SAT 50 points lower? Did your friend take the SAT more than once or is the 1350 his superscore?
Sending in both ACT and SAT should not have been an issue unless for some reason they did not receive the SAT result vs. the ACT result.
You could appeal, but you really have no grounds since you cannot use your stats vs. your friend’s stats as the basis.
I do not work in admissions so I cannot tell why you were passed over vs. your friend. Are you sure you had no omissions or mistakes on your CSU application?
@Gumbymom Yeah for sure his superscore is 1350 I just chatted with him and I know I can’t call them and say he got in and I didn’t. I’m positive my app was correct, thanks for the help though california admissions are crazy!. I think I will just call in tomorrow because I wasn’t even offered waitlist. I really thought my EI Score was high enough regardless
It was a really tough admissions cycle at SDSU with a record # of applicants so you have to figure around 70K applicants will be denied or waitlisted from the original 90K+ applicants. Hopefully have a some good options and several of the UC’s have yet to post decisions.
You will end up where you were meant to be, so best of luck.
