SDSU class of 2023 Pre-Bio Majors

Anyone know the classes we are required to take for pre-bio to get into the bio major? And what you are supposed to do if you do not pass the entrance exam for chemistry?

The biology and microbiology majors are impacted programs. To be admitted to the biology or microbiology major, students must meet the following criteria:
a. Complete with a minimum GPA of 2.80 and a grade of C (2.0) or better: Biology 203, 203L, 204, 204L, 215; Chem- istry 200, 201, 232, 232L; and Mathematics 124. These courses cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC);
b. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.80 or better;
To complete the major, students must fulfill the degree require-
ments for the major described in the catalog in effect at the time they are accepted into the premajor at SDSU (assuming continu- ous enrollment).

If you do not pass the Chem placement exam after 2 attempts, you will be placed into Chem 100 and need to get a C or higher grade to continue to any other Chemistry courses or you can skip the test and take Chem 100 instead.

so when are we suppose to take the chem entrance exam?

as an undergraduate freshman

You should take the chem placement exam prior to your Freshman orientation. If you do not have a passing score, you will not be able to take the required Chem courses which are in turn pre-req’s for your Biology courses. This will delay your whole 4 year graduation plan.

Do you know y how much it would delay my graduation? I know for sure I will not pass so I am planning to take the course again?

If you do not think you will pass, then take Chem 100 Fall Semester. If you pass Chem 100, then you can take Chem 200 in Spring, so you will only behind 1 semester before you can take your Biology courses. You can always take a Chem or Biology course during summer session 2020 to catch up.

Okay thank you!

@Gumbymom do u know by any chance what we are supposed to do if we want to decline our offer of admission even after we have paid our SIR fee, I want to decline it for SDSU?

You only need to decline your offer. Your enrollment deposit will be forfeited. Did you make a housing deposit?

no i didnt make a housing deposit, so should i call them?

If there is no option on your SDSU portal to withdraw, then contact admissions.
