I really want to go to sdsu. I think out of all of the cal state, that one is the best. If you have been there, you know what i am talking about. I have a 3.59 cal state gpa and my combined sat reading and math score is 980. I hope someone can help me out on my chances of getting in. Any help would be great, thanx.

it might be a little late if you are apply this year but your sat score is really low. you need to improve on that.

your gpa is good, maybe try taking some ap courses.

other than that, sdsu only looks at gpa and sat scores.

My daughter has a 3.58 and a 950 she is from NJ and the admissions office told me she has a chance of getting in.

that is true, anyone can apply with the minimum requirements. but it's better to have higher stats.

not to be mean or anything, but sat scores below 1000 makes it harder especially if you are from out of state. not to say she can't get in, i've met some kids that shouldn't even have graduated high school.

but every year, admissions are getting more strict because of the popularity. what major is she apply under? i would recommend apply under a non-impacted major and then changing it when she is accepted unless its a major where you can not change into such as nursing.

She put communications on her app. What is an impacted major?

An impacted major is a major where the school gets more applicants for that major than it can take in. Most of the majors at sdsu are impacted because of the high number of people applying there. I put hospitality as my major. that major is impacted, but it isnt as impacted as business i hope. Business would be much harder to get accepted wouldnt it?

To deb: I live about two and a half hours from sdsu. I have been to csulb and northridge and they are both nice schools but sdsu tops them off by far. those other two school are more commuter schools and the college life probably wouldnt be anything like sdsu. Sdsu school seems a lot more alive, upbeat and a friendly campus.

Hey caliguy07, Do you think my chances are more on the upside or the bottom side or right in the middle. Good or bad from your perspective?

i think you have a decent chance. Regardless good luck.

i think you are in the middle. gpa is good, just your testing scores.

it will depend on what other applicant's stats are that are applying.

For all CSU campuses, the first thing considered is the subject requirements, then on to the GPA and test score, nothing more. With regards to the GPA and test score, there is a formula used, called the eligibility index, so they are both considered equally. A CSU campus would not deny based on one or the other being low. While not a likely combination, a student with a 2.75 GPA and a 1600 SAT (CR & M only), and a student with a 4.0 and a 800 SAT would treated exactly the same.

For Codyz15 and GratefulDeb, I think you may have a chance. Good luck!

Thanks for you rreply. I don't know if you have read my posts that my daughter is so sick with worry over not getting accepteds that she gave herself two ulcers. Three more weeks and it will all be over. As a backup she applied to Santa Barbara City College so she can go there and then transfer into UCSB or SDSU. I really don't want ther living 3 1/2 hours away though with her health issues. Please pray for us (and Cody too!)
Thanks.

I'm still waiting on SDSU too...I have a 3.45 and 1100 SAT.

SDSU is one of my favorite options as well. I'm looking into UMiami, Indiana, Pepperdine, LMU, and SDSU.

I think all of us should get in, but SDSU has so many applications it's hard to guarantee an acceptance.

But anyways...GratefulDeb it's great that your daughter applied to SBCC. If I wanted to stay in California for sure, I would have definitely applied there...but I'm interested in going to a new part of the country.

Good luck to everyone! We should find out in a few weeks!

You stats looks good. I've heard this year that their was an increase in applications and not enough room so they are decreasing the acceptances.

Hope all goes well.

So I read this thread and thought, "which majors are impacted at SDSU?". (i applied and got in early, but I was curious.) As it turns out, many of them were. If anyone's interested, here's the link for all CSUs:

Not all majors are listed.
