So, my friend just got rejected from SDSU with a 3.5 GPA and a 1750 SAT score. Wouldn't this have been way more than enough in past years? I feel really bad for her, because now everything's riding on her getting into UCSC, but she's really worried she won't.

I got in with like 3.7 and 1230 (they dont look at writing), but a lot of my friends with similar stats didnt get in, so I got lucky.

The reason is so competitive is because so many people apply. I believe this year they had over 55,000, which is one of the nations highest.

I think the real issue is that they and all CSUs have moved to giving preference to kids who live in their service area. So it's harder to get into if you're not from the SD area.

Yea, I got rejected =/
SAT=1740
ACT=27
GPA=3.67

I think it's because I wasn't THAT involved.
A football player at my school with an ACT score of 14 got in.

Yeah, apparently so. A friend of mine got rejected from SDSU but got into LMU, USD, and plenty of other similar-caliber schools.
