SDSU Housing...Suites?

I'm in the process of filling out the housing application for San Diego State. I'm interested in living in a suite, but the only options on the drop-down menu are singles, doubles, and triples in various living communities. I know suites are one of the more popular options and I don't really expect to get one, but it seems weird to me that it's not even one of the options. Am I missing something? Is there any way to request a suite?

As far as I know you can’t choose where you want to live. SDSU picks for you.

Is there any type of room or learning community I should request that will increase my chances of getting one? It seems like most of the suites have double bedrooms, so should I just request a double and hope for the best? Like I said, I know I’m not very likely to end up with a suite as it is, so I’d be happy with a double.

SDSU is very random, you’ll be very lucky to get the suite. But aren’t the suites more expensive?

The only suites that I know at SDSU are the University Towers, usually only upperclassman get to live on those dorms. So if you happen to be a upperclassmen you will most likely be placed on those dorms but since your are a underclassman you might be able to get into Cuicacalli Suites.

They are more expensive (I believe) so that’s why I thought it was weird that they’re randomly assigned. But there’s no way to specifically request Cuicacalli, is there? From what it looks like you can only request the size of the room and the type of learning community. I think some other schools (Humboldt, for example) let you request a specific building once you’ve submitted the housing agreement so that’s why I’m wondering.

SDSU used to let you request the dorms you wanted to live on, I’m not sure why they stopped.

I did some searching on the website and it says only returning students can request a specific hall/room. I know SDSU has been really over-enrolled so maybe the demand is just too high? Oh well, at least I can request a suite next year.

Cuicacalli is a freshman dorm and is all suites. You should be able to request it directly as well as the room type (single or double). Not sure if there are any LLCs in that particular dorm. They may be limited to the more traditional dorms that only have doubles and singles, no suites. By the way, my son lived in Zura as a freshman last year in the Entrepreneurship LLC and loved it.
